Factory system static (even when playing CD's)

Acura '02 TL
My stereo has static noise coming through even when I'm playing a CD. It happens when my phone rings, and it happens other times as well. I figure this could be a wiring problem if the stereo wires are picking up interference.
Could it be from a radar detector plugged into the AC jack?
Anybody else have this problem?

Factory system has no mods
Maybe I should ask the space cadets at the dealership.

When your phone rings - I will GUARANTEE that you have a GSM or TDMA phone. Not too uncommon. Sounds like an angry bee?

I don't think it's a wiring problem... but I'd take the battery out of your phone and drive around and see if it happens with the phone absent or non-powered. If not, only when the phone's on (it will occasionally ping the network even with no call in progress), you might want to not put that in your front pants pocket anywhere near your privates.

Thanks for the info. My phone is a motorola v400. I figured it could not have beeen the phone because i get interference even when the phone doesn't ring. I'll try it out.

What carrier? (That determines the TDMA/CDMA/GSM/IDEN flavor).

Verizon. And that's a funny reply, by the way. It sounds EXACTLY like an angry bee trapped inside the speakers, or a bee being electrocuted.

So you think this phone will prevent me from having kids too?
(at least good looking ones?)

I tried leaving my battery out of my phone. You were right. I also figured out as long as the phone isn't near the stereo at all, there is nearly no interference. Hopefully a new phone will remedy this problem.

It might... or it might be geographic (with certain cell sites), or only happen when 1 out of the hundreds of channels is being used...

If you get an in-car kit with an external antenna I almost guarantee you it won't happen any more.

I got that problem with my old Clarion CD player with AT&T... but NOT with Verizon. Weird.

I also have a Motorola V400 and it does the same thing in my TL-S. It seems to mostly depend on where the phone is located in my car, as to "when the angry bee is buzzing around". The closer to the HU, the worse the interference. I usually keep mine clipped on my side or in the passenger seat and that helps greatly. Good luck.
