STATIC static STATIC ! ! ! HHEELLPP!!

I have an '04 Acura TL with static problem. I went to the dealership and they told me that it could be the radio, so i asked them to fix it. A few days later they call me telling me that they cant fix the radio, so they're gonna give me a renewed radio from the company in Cali. 2 weeks later i get my radio back, BUT the static is still there. The guy told be that because the rear window of my car is tinted, and the tint is covering the antenna, thats why the static is still there. I honestly find that hard to believe coz if thats the case, then why am i getting static on my cd's, iPod and when im on the phone?!

does anybody have a solution to this?! if so, PLZZZZ help me out, im going crazy and im even thinking about selling the car. PLZZZZ help me b4 i do something crazy like that lol

thanx in advance!

Have you checked the conditions of your speakers? Perhaps the source could be from a blown speaker(s).

Isolate the problem:
Configure your settings so that music only plays: front-half, rear-half, left-side, right-side, rear-left side, rear-right, front-left, front-right etc...
If you notice that the static is constantly being reproduced, perhaps it could be an AMP issue? (Not too positive about that, but seeing how they replaced your console, something perhaps to consider).

Is the static only on when the radio is on? You mentioned you hear static on your phone?

isnt the radio an entire unit, meaning that the amp is a part of the radio?

i hear static on every outlet. AM, FM, CD, iPod and when im on the phone

The AMP is located in the front passenger side, I believe along the right side underneath the glove box?
Hm, been a while since I last touched the AMP, but its somewhere around there.

If you can hear it on the FM radio plus CDs, ipod, and bluetooth, the only thing that makes sense is the facotry amp or a bad ground.

Did you pay the dealer $$$ to diagnose your problem and replace that radio? If you did, get your $$$ back...

behind the right kick panel to be more precise

or bad connections between the radio and amp

so to OP, idk how good you are at pulling things apart and whatnot, but i would say toss a CD in, then start moving/shaking wires around to see if anythings changes (it might be a chaffed wire from a passenger kicking it at one point depending on how the wires are exactly ran between the radio and the amp)

The tint issue with the rear window would not cause static for anything other than the radio. This is only caused by metallic tint which most people do not use because of the expense, and its super rare for it to cause any problems anyway. But it is something a mechanic can make excuses about.

I've recently experience the same problem! Driving me nuts! but only with FM radio stations. I do have my back window tinted but dont really think that could be it. Havent had a problem up until a few days ago. It's been really cold and icy here in ohio so maybe that's what's making all that static. Good luck buddy, hope you diagnose this problem soon.

all FM stationss?

if so, the antenna cable might be kinked/pinched some where, cause i know on my 2g, it got kinked, on the bracket that holds down the rear of the center console (idk how the 3g's are routed though), i will say it was kinda a bitch to replace the cable, but once i replaced it, reception came back, and comes back in quite strong actually

I had this exact same problem, but only when i would turn on the rear defrost. If i was listening to an fm station and turned on the rear defrost the entire radio would go to static; turned out to be the defrost lines on the back windshield. Since the rear defroster is built into the windshield, if the lines wear, or are scratched, it will cause interference with the radio on FM stations. You might want to check that out also..

ground wire or amp.. do you notice it only when it's cold? Does the static go away as the cabin warms up?

I get a crazy amount of static and white noise when my car is cold. After about 20 minutes of driving it fades away but it still somewhat noticeable, especially at low volume. Pretty damn annoying.

Hm. So it's the amp creating the static? Interesting.

It was for the guy i helped. I had never heard of the issue before either but his was creating static on all sources so it wasnt the fm antenna gone bad apparently.

Does anyone know where to get the OEM amp or have the parts number? I also have static on all the outputs. I always thought it was a bad ground and I'm not good with wires. But if it is the amp, I wont have trouble changing it out.

Oh, to all the people with static problems. Do you only get static when the car is on? I don't get any static when the vehicle is not running.

which means something is causing noise from the alternator, is your alternator good?, might be with getting tested, more specifically the diodes, with possibly letting too much AC voltage through
also is your battery still in decent shape? not on it's last leg, because it acts as a dampener for any AC voltage that the alternator does let pass through

as far as an additional thing to help solve the noise issue, try one of these, on the power and ground wires to the radio (and possibly another set for the amp itself), and being only 2.99 per 2 plus tax, can't complain about the price really

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=3012599

and you still need to find the root cause of the static issue, those only help to hide up the last bit of noise feeding through (and if you don't believe they work, look at the input cable (on a desktop) to your computer monitor, there will be one there

Yeah I'm bumping this old ass thread, get off my dick

So we are assuming that the stock amp is creating the buzzing/static noise? Now that it's starting to get cold outside, the noise is more pronounced in my car and I can't stand it.

Do you belong to DIYMA.com? You might want to post this question over there, there are some very knowledgable people over there.

I remember this thread and I still don't have an answer for it.

Maybe you can use it as an excuse to upgrade your system. You'll be eliminating the stock amp and ground points. If the problem is still there it would only leave the stock HU.

I can ship you my stock amp if you would like to try it to eliminate that as the problem.

Acura TL (2004) Static in Speakers

I just fixed by speaker noise problem and want to thank all posters for helping me figure out where to start. Symptoms started in the winter a couple years ago. I would have static in my speakers when car was cold. It would slowly go away as the car warmed. During the summer I did not notice it. Then it got worse and happened all the time. This only occurred when the engine was running. Sound was great when the engine was off.

I replaced my amplifier with one I purchased off of ebay ($150). Took me about 30 minutes and like magic no more static. I put up with it for 2 years and such a simple and inexpensive fix.

Sounds like the antenna is busted somewhere. Is there any scratches on your rear defroster?
