2014 RDX and ANC disable.. HELP!
I had no idea this was an issue until I installed a nice little shallow mount Stereo Integrity subwoofer for my wife. Random bass notes all the time and very annoying. I did a lot of reading and found it to be the ANC which we all know can be disabled at the radio but the setting doesn't stick. I need an option that will keep the BT calling working. I have heard there is an ANC module that can be disconnected but I have not found where this would be in the RDX. I have been told unplugging only the rear MIC will disable ANC but this only seems to work for some. I have seen some ppl cut a certain RED or WHITE wire at the front MIC after unplugging the rear MIC and this has corrected the issue but I don't know if this keeps BT calling working. Acura really should have given us a way to disable this that actually sticks. Please help me.. I am at a loss and the wife is pissed!

Well I removed the glove box and did not see anything that even remotely looked like an ANC module. I am guessing it's behind the radio which looks like a pain to remove. Also does anyone know if removing the ANC module will stop the BT calling from working? I am so close to fixing this issue!!!

Anyone have any success with this on a 2016 RDX? Its sad that the ANC really impacts sound quality. I know for certain its the ANC, as I was able to disable it through the diagnostic menus and noticed a significant difference in sound quality. However, it resets everytime the car is turned on.
Is it best to disconnect the ANC module? Or the mic or mics? Does anyone know how many mics there are for the ANC, and where they are? Will disconnecting them impact the other voice features?

When I was a kid in the Air Force more than 40 years ago, we were taught that in any given document, the first time you use an acronym, you spell it out and give the acronym form. Thereafter, you may use only the acronym.
I say this because I cannot find 'ANC' in either the User's Manual or the Navigation Manual for the 2014 RDX. If forced to guess, I'd think it was 'ambient noise control'. 'Ambient' is also not found in that context. So, can someone tell me what is being referred to here?
Thanks!

Ambient Noise Cancelation.
Vehicles equipped with variable cylinder management often have what is basically noise cancelation. Like noise canceling headphones.
Never used any? Oh man, it is the only way to fly.
But if you are an audiophile, tweaking or upgrading the sound system in such a vehicle, you need to cancel it. It is tuned to be inperceptable in a stock set up.
But change anything, and you are going to hear it.

I appreciate that response, egads. Looking for the cancellation word, I find that it is described in some places as 'Active Noise Cancellation' (my use of 'ambient' may have just been a bad guess). In any case, the words 'active noise' are also not found in either the RDX owner's manual or Navi manual. Curiouser and curiouser. The description makes some of the above thread make a little more sense! Thanks!

I do not have and have not seen the option. I'm curious about how you got to the 'developer menu'.

Press and hold Cancel-Map Guide-Dest Route = diagnostics menu
Select Detail information & Settings
Press and hold Dest Route for a few seconds
You will get to the developper Menu.
Hope it helps.

Small update on the RDX 2014, i managed to disable ANC electronically, not through the developer menu but through the radio itself. Turn it off, push buttons 1 and 6 and keep them pushed when you turn on the radio. You will get in a developer menu in the the small radio screen. Then simply push button 1 and it will either activate or disable ANC (each push changes ANC status).
Hope it helps.

Thanks mate, yes i am aware it will get back to default each time i turn off the car. I just wanted to let 2014 model owners know how to find the option since the tricks available for other models do no apply for us.

Except that: the photo above of the wire you unplug is a 2014. It seems that the issue is with the 2016 and above models (mid cycle refresh) that do not have the simple unplug method.
At least that is the way I read it. You will have to remove the side of the console in your 2014 and look.
