Trading in

Hey,

Has anyone traded in their 13/14/15 RDX yet?
How bad were you clobbered and if so what did you get?

Wife and I are looking possibly at something bigger and maybe even a pilot
but still shopping around

the pilot is supposed to be redisgned, I would wait instead of buying that right now

The Pilot earned the worst possible rating of "Poor" in the IIHS's small-overlap frontal-offset impact test, however

We traded our 2013 RDX AWD w/Tech 17560 miles December 2014. We we allowed $29,500 in trade on our new 2015 Acura MDX SH-AWD w/Tech. New MDX was bought at less than True Car pricing. The new MDX is awesome.

Also looked at the Q60, Lexis 350, Toyota Highlander, and Honda Pilot. The Pilot drove like a boring truck. The current Touring model Pilot is a Tech cripple. If Tech is not important to a purchaser, it may be an okay purchase.

Would have liked to test drive a new Porsche Macan, but my wife wanted a larger vehicle. Also the Macan is so new that there is a lack of inventory to test drive or purchase.

Just traded in our '14 Base RDX AWD with 12,000 miles for $30k. Bought it for $35k, it sucks but it could be much worse. Best of luck!

yeah life is too short to drive something you don't like. Might as well cut your losses while you can

I just test drove a 15' Pilot. Drove like a big boat almost felt like it was floating on the road. The ENTIRE dash is hard brittle plastic. And of course they are as boring looking as a vehicle can get.

If you want lots of space I guess it's the way to go. Can't think of any other reason to buy one. Of course they're offerering lots of discounts on them.

That doesn't seem as bad as it could be.
What did you trade toward?

My neighbor has a pilot and really likes it. Gas mileage is not quite as good as the RDX, but the ride quality is so much better.

Interesting! Back in late '06?, our RX330 got us invited to Atlanta Motor Speedway to test the then-new IS 250 and 350 on an 'autocross' course. Those things were being run HARD for about eight hours...didn't miss a beat! No AWD back then; but they were great handlers. Couldn't get my size 15 feet behind the front seats, however. Enjoy!

The new Macan is nothing short of amazing. Though, if you want more space, it is only about the same size as the my 09 RDX. So, I think you made the right choice.

I'd rock an outback... you can get the LOADED for about $2K less than the RDX, you give up 17hp but you gain

eyesight
adaptive cruise
lane departure
big moon roof
AWD that is able to dig you out of some deep stuff
the same mpg
.6 inches MORE ground clearance
73+ cu ft of cargo area with the seats down

Plus or Minus depending upon your view

CVT

Given the reliability of recent Honda-matics, I'd take the CVT every single time.

We have a 10 month old, rdx was bought pre pregnancy and felt very cramped with car seat stroller etc.

Finally went to drive mdx and its night and day

I got $30,000 for our 2014 rdx tech with 15,000 miles on it and drove our 15 mdx tech home tonight.
Regret not making the switch sooner!

Certainly some serious room in the MDX...and the cargo area is essentially a box, quite usable.

Careful...it may be like a lady's purse...no matter the size, it gets filled up Enjoy!

Awesome.... congrats on the new car (and the baby). Yes, space is a necessity when you have a young kid. The more the better. So MDX it is .
