2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport vs 2016 RDX

Anyone considering this cross shop?

...I most likely will be looking at these...and the 2015 Ford Edge...although none of them are out yet lol

LR Disco Sport does looks very intriguing, especially at the given price point. However, it is just too big (>80" width) for me considering it would be sharing a garage with a Honda Ody. I like the 2015 Edge also, but am waiting for more details on the 2016 MKX, which could be even better depending where they price it. Not sure I could pull the trigger on either unless it came with the new "Sync 3"(Ford Launches Improved 'Sync 3' Platform, Junks MyFord Touch - Forbes)

Though something tells me at the end of the day, I will circle back to the 2016 RDX as I've done a couple of times already...

That eventually happens; if Acura is on your shopping list...

If you cross shop Lexus with Acura ... you are more likely to end up with Acura.
If you cross shop Lexus with Germans/ Euro / American luxury cars, then you end up with Lexus (Acura won't be on your radar at that time)
If you cross shop only German cars, then you buy German .

I'm actually cross shopping the new LR Discovery Sport to the 2015 RDX. While I really like the looks of the DS, I'm concerned about the long term maintenance costs and I'm not a Turbo engine fan. The RDX is probably the safer bet although either of the two vehicle will be a 180 mile trip for Maintenance/warranty work. The RDX is packaged right for me and I like the V6. We put a lot of miles on our vehicles, (117K on 4.5 year old Highlander presently). Hope to make a purchase before the H/L hits 125K when ex-warranty drops.

I agree the DS is a great looking ride. Love the upscale outdoorsy combination. However, the reliability is subject while it's a strong point for the RDX. Plus, I don't think I pull the trigger on a 40K+ car with a moonroof that doesn't open.

yeah, the fixed moonroof is my biggest qualm with the LR....but the non-pano option on the RDX is also a let down. for some reason, the pano roof is top five on my priority list, with the ability to adjust so there is still partial shade for just the rear. the edge has that capability.

also, the disco most likely will not lease well.

here is the edge in black/tobacco

Not sure if I am willing to sacrifice reliability to get either of the cars. How long do you plan to lease/own the vehicle?
