Telematics Bluetooth Swap (3G CDMA Shutdown)
Has anyone replaced their Telematics Bluetooth HFT device. With the looming 3G CDMA shutdown, I’ve been on the hunt for an LTE enabled device that will allow real time traffic feed data and AcuraLink services to continue after the shutdown in August.
I was able to locate a blue labeled LTE HFT unit for $100 and swapped it out. Map data pulls up almost instantaneously now with the new device. Green light shows. My AcuraLink subscription shows up in info settings.
However, my vehicle does not refresh on the AcuraLink app, nor does the emergency assist button overhead recognize my AcuraLink subscription.
Anyone run into this issue?

For any DIYers looking for how to do this swap…
Thank you altair47, and everyone else for your help! Found and successfully removed the Bluetooth control module.
For anyone else needing the same info for their 2014 RDX, the HFL/HFT Bluetooth unit is located under the front right kick panel. Just pop off the lower panel under the glove box, and pop up the door sill trim to allow the kick panel to pop off as well. All clips, no screws. Bluetooth module held on with 2 10mm bolts. Factory module part number is 39770-TX4-A21(0-M1). Looking on OEM parts sites, looks like this part has been replaced by a newer -A22 part going for ~$650. Luckily found an -A21 on eBay for $75 so I’ll try that out first. Wish me luck!

Update: Contacting AcuraLink Client Services or In Car Technologies doesn’t work. Multiple reps said they couldn’t update the serial to associate to my AcuraLink account and that the dealer would need to handle. The service department at my dealer isn’t sure either and is researching. Reflashing HFL in diagnostics mode fails.

I'll start by saying I admire the fact you found a viable solution and solve for this. But with the advent of the smartphone/Waze/Google Maps, is Acuralink/real time Traffic really necessary? Do you pay the monthly fee for Acuralink?

With the way I have the upper dash monitor setup (2 dimensional flat with high contrast coloring for quick easy glances at data), IMO it is safer and more convenient for real time traffic feed then my phone, which is usually charging inside the center storage compartment (slide door with Acura logo).
Alert: I believe the Acura 3G decommission goes into effect a few weeks from now, 8/23
