Is there any way to turn on the seat heaters remotely? 2017 Advance. I leave the seat heaters on when I shut the car off. But when I remote start the car in the morning, seats are cold and off. It's been about 30 F in the mornings. I don't think it's a possibility, but figured I'd ask. Thanks

 

Mine come on when I start it remotely.

 

What procedure are you using to get the seat heaters to come on when you auto-start the RDX with the remote fob?
What model year RDX do you have?

I've tried turning the seat heaters on prior to shutting the car off multiple times. Even at below 30f, it will not come on when I use the fob to remote start the car.

 

On my '16 Advance, in addition to activating the switch, there also needs to be weight in the seat for the heaters to come on.

 

I tested what you said Jcross. On my short 5 minute drive to work, I put both seat heaters on. While mine got nice and toasty, the passenger seat remained cold to light touch. But it did warm up when I pressed into it. I'll have to try it out on a longer drive to see if it ever comes on fully without someone sitting on it.

 

Jfkmk, you haven't clarified how you are able to activate the seat heaters with your remote start. I'm asking about the factory remote start.

I've trialed putting different items on the seats, up to about 5lbs so far. Still no activation of the seat heaters when I use the key fob to remote start. I"m thinking this is not possible on this model year.

 

Ducrdx, sorry for the delayed response. I’ve only used the key fob remote start so far, not the phone app. Both seat heaters have been on when I get in the car, even if they were off when I parked it.

Actually not much is clarified. For one thing, the actual model & year needs to be posted. Also whether the remote start is an Acura accessory or an aftermarket unit.
How everything works could depend entirely on that. Do any of you have a manual for the remote start?

I would look for the sticker that is supposed to be attached on the inside of the hood for actual Acura remote start accessories. It's possible that having the heated seats come on
is not something some versions do.

 

Really... The seat heating elements are activated through weight detection?

 

They're activated by having the seat heat switch on and weight in the seat. It's probably to keep the seat from overheating.
