remote heated seat starter

think it would be possible to be able to hit a button on your remote and turn the seat heaters on?
The lights turn on, so why can't the seat warmers?

It would be much cheaper then remote engine start.

I imagine your battery would not be up to that task for more than a few minutes.

louisn is right. Those seats suck up a lot of current. Unless your car was running, your batters would go dead FAST. Infact, even in the manual it says not to use the seat heaters on a regular basis as it is hard on the battery.

the new 6 speed only has the high setting, so that statement's prob not true about idling

I don’t remember reading anything about THAT.
My drivers seat heater is pretty much ON from November until I turn it OFF the first warm day in March or April.

The single position switch in the 6-Speed is kind of a “combo” switch.
From what I’ve experienced it comes on in the HIGH position until it hits a preset temperature.
After that it kicks to LOW and then cycles ON/OFF to maintain a comfortable range.
I remember on my 2001 if I kept the switch on HIGH it would burn my ASS if I didn’t switch it to LOW once it got warm.
So they kind of combined the functionality of the two-way switch into a single setting.

The same info about the seat heater use is my owners manual on my 2000TL. It says not to use them when car is sitting at idling because of the curent draw from the battery. It could casue a dead battery this is not the exact word but its about the same.

Hey, if you kill your battery, who cares?

Just let it roll a bit, put it in gear, turn the key on, and pop the clutch!

You don't need no stinkin' battery.

Quick quesiton.... Are you losing any horsepower running the seats? Because every single run at the track I have had them on.

Technicall yes. The more current you are drawing from the alternator, the more mechanical resistance it will feel. That means your engine will lose more power to turn the alternator than normal. For best 0-60 & 1/4mi times I would turn off ALL non essential electrical devices including, amps, seat heaters, headlights, etc. Some would probably argue this extra loss is negligible but hey....every little bit helps. I would be curious to see dyno results with the seat heaters on HI vs. off....anyone?

Yes you are. The drag from the alternator is directly proportional to the amount of current it needs to generate. Now to be honest I dont have any idea of how much of a difference there is, but yes running those heaters increases drag.
