Passenger seat height adjustment.? Why Acura

Combining grade 8 fasteners and plywood is not a good idea. High carbon content steel fasteners + wood = no clamp load.
High strength fasteners are required for high strength materials and high clamping loads. You might as well be using grade 2 fasteners in combination with plywood.
Heaven forbid you get into an accident and the passenger suffers any injuries. The insurance investigators would be all over that modification.

Hand-filer, the 1/4" plywood is used as a spacer to raise the rail up and hold it in place. There are several washers between the floor pan and the front of the rail that are held in place by the fastener. It is torqued down to spec. The plywood is only to keep the rail in place while the washers are slid between the floor and the rail, then a fastener is bolted in. There is no "clamping load" on the plywood. For all intents and purposes, you could slide the plywood out after tightening the bolts.

Deja vu ....we've got shade tree mechanics smarter than engineers from Acura? Trust me I know what I'm doing...we don't need no stinkin' tests....it works so it must be ok?

This thread got me to thinking, and since I have never sat in the passenger seat,I did tonight.
It sure is low,but I don't mind it.It feels more like driving the TL courtesy car.My wife is only 5'1'',and luckily for me.she seems fine with it.I think it's easier for her to get in and out of it the way it is.

Kia / Hyundai seat height modification kit. Their passenger seats have the same problem as the RDX.

5 Acuras, probably the bolt sizes, and the fact that it looks like their seat rails are flat the full length. The Acura has a front rail mount that is angled, and limits the amount you can raise it with a spacer. The fact is, they are using spacers made of square stock, and the longer bolts, and it solves a problem.

The current ones on our website will not. I talked to an owner of a Rdx last night and we are looking into an option that will work. Thanks for the interest. Chris.

Newby discovering old passenger seat height problem
Hi there. Just bought a 2014 RDX, unhappy with passenger seat height, and looking for solutions. Has anyone done the engineering work (Acura or others) to verify a fix? I have looked at SRAutoShop, but don't see an RDX kit. Anything short of finding a 2016 or later 8-way seat?
I have taken photos and made some drawings to take to a local fabricator, but a properly designed and tested solution would be preferable. 5 years on, surely someone has taken the time to do so).
Thanks
