My 2016 RDX order
My 2016 RDX order
I have $1000 "nonrefundable" down on a 16 RDX advance package in basque red pearl that I was told I will get by end of June and I'm find with that. My dealer keeps telling me they found one within the district but when I ask for updates on when it will be here they do not know. Does that make any sense? Seems they should be able to provide a date. I assume they are getting it from another dealer that has yet to get it from Acura but would still think they would have a date. Just seems like I am getting the runaround. Bit worried about the nonrefundable part as they could keep me on the hook forever. Really can't look at another brand because of this but not enjoying the experience so far. Thanks
Probably the dealer is simply haggling with other dealers over price of the car. May be you should ask them to place a custom order with Acura factory and ask for a VIN number as soon as the order is placed. Don't know why Acura dealers can't seem to get this part right.
My situation was somewhat similar where we left a deposit with the dealer, only to find out that delivery of our vehicle was "unknown" - they advised probably late June. My wife had the color combo picked out, so what I did was search the dealer inventory of the dealerships in my area. Originally we were going for the Tech with Acura Watch pkg, however I found an Advance model. I contacted the dealer to verify if that dealer was actually on the lot (not on order) and they said yes. I provided the VIN to my dealer and they traded for the vehicle.
As far as i'm to understand with mine, it is ON the lot, but because I need to sell my car they are giving me a chance to do that while holding my RDX. I've put $1000 down as well, but I was told just to give them 3 days notice and i'd be able to pick it up. The only day I had a panic attack was when I wondered if I should have test drove the Lexus NX, but upon looking in to it, i'd have to pay significantly more, to get what my Acura offers at a lower price point.
I hope your guys vehicle is in fact ready end of June.. i'd just be pushy on asking them when, and ya what the VIN is and etc...

There is certainly no harm in test driving the Lexus NX even if you are not planning to buy it. I would have if I were spending this much amount of money and see what kind of deals they are offering. If you decide RDX is still better deal then I guess you wouldn't have any second thoughts later on regarding the NX. You don't have to take what everyone says about a car at face value until you test drive it yourself. It isn't too late yet.
The other way to look at it is, why would a dealership need someone to put down a non-refundable deposit on a car in such demand that they can easily sell it to someone else? They just use this to manipulate you. If you were buying a rare item that was built just for you at great expense and couldn't be sold to anyone else (like a hand made wedding dress) I can see why a deposit makes sense. But this is not the case of a mass produced car.

I gotta ask, why the rush?
I mean we all know the 2016 will be readily available probably by Fall and it's a common SUV (not like a limited edition sports car).
I understand wanting to be the first to own something and the 2016 has some new features, but it seems patience is a virtue in these kinds of situations.

Understand that there is no such thing as a 'non refundable' deposit on a car. Legally they can't keep your money if you don't want the car. They want you to believe this, and they seem to have convinced you, and it has kept you in this deal. But they can't legally keep your deposit. Just take them to court.

Mine is ready to go, i'm more so rushing to sell my car now because i'm super excited to have my new acura!
Good info to know for the deposit and I thought that was the case. For me there is a bit of a rush because we are giving our 4 door accord to our daughter because they are having a baby and the two door accord will not be practical. That and we test drove a 2016 RDX and loved it. I can wait a bit but need to get a vehicle. Again I can wait til end of June just want my dealer to give me a date and I wonder if they really have one coming as they state
Hopefully you will get into your ride soon.
Rocketman, thanks for shedding light on the non-refundable deposit part.
Well, after telling my dealer tired of not getting any solid updates on my 16 RDX advance heard from him today saying vehicle is now in production and should be about two weeks and once shipped they can track it. I am fine with that but so much for them telling me they "found one within the district". Don't care one way or the other but wanted it by the 30 June deadline for military discount which he assures me the discount will not be an issue.

Still not enough supply to fill the pipeline but I'm sure that will change soon.
