Front struts
Front struts
Time for me to get the front struts replaced.

Is KYB really manufacturing front struts? I recall seeing threads where folks mentioned they have rear shocks only for the RDX.
The website says these struts fit my 2014 RDX.
Do I need to replace the entire strut assembly or just the strut and not worry about the spring?
Thanks.

I wouldn't replace the spring unless it's broken which is unlikely, but I would replace the mount and bearings.

You need two of each. Honda/Acura only has these parts.
KYB is a upgrade in every way compared to the OEM shocks and Struts, better ride quality and handling. Off the lot brand new RDX front struts rattled a bit, dealership failed to repair even after many complaints, the KYBs is what Acura should have put on from the factory, yes they are that much better.
I am hearing squeaking noise from the rear also. When I push down, the rear bounces a couple of times. Don't know if that means anything.
Looked for KYB shocks for the rear. Can't find them. Out of stock everywhere I looked. Does anyone know where I could find them?

If the vehicle does anything more than goes back up and stops after pushing down on it, the shocks are shot, you need new ones.

Rears are very hard to get ahold of right now, I believe you can order them from tirerack.com I believe they are shipping in January it should tell you at checkout. Alignment only needs to be checked when you do the front struts, usually the alignment stays in check. But always get it checked out after having the front done.
I replaced the rear shocks at about 50k miles. Had replaced the rear shocks already because of a defective parts. After installing the KYB shocks the ride was much better. The front struts were replaced at about 90k miles and the reason that I waited that long, was that KYB hadn't gotten their production caught up so that one could purchase the new struts. Oh to add the cost of KYB struts is a fraction of the cost of OEM struts. But if you want to keep your Acura stock, you can shell out the 3 times the cost for the Acura parts
I put some new KYB GR-2 struts on my 1999 CR-V in 2010 at 118,171 miles thinking the OEM struts must be done after 11 years. Amazingly the original struts were marginally better than the new KYBs. I hope the KYBs are a lot better now for when I need them.
Just sayin.
I understand what you saying. The front struts were around 95k miles and replacing them with anything might have made a difference, but the rear shocks ,,I had replaced them with OEM parts at 35k miles and they still were junk IMO. After replacing the rear shocks again at 40k miles with the KYB and was pleased with the ride. New front struts could or could not be a problem , because at 100k miles they should be replaced anyway. Wish there was a heavy duty rear sway bar for these rides .
I only asked what the mileage was because on another forum I am on, many members tell me how some aftermarket component "totally transformed" their vehicle. For example, some new aftermarket control arm bushings. What they forgot to tell everybody was the original control arm bushings were 15 or more years old. Well no wonder any new control arm bushing is better...duhhh.

KYB are OEM supplier for Toyota vehicles. I just replaced the front struts in my 06 Sienna XLE with KYB whole assembly. They works well in my case. Not sure who are the oem supplier for Hondas.
As I said in my previous post that the factory struts rattled from day one brand new off the lot, two of the other new RDXs used as loner cars rattled too, they also ride stiff and allow the vehicle to roll, the KYBs ride MUCH better and have LESS roll than NEW, I had my friend drive my 2013 RDX after switching to the KYBs he also agreed, he has a 2014 RDX with half the miles. His front struts also rattle exactly like my factory struts.
Shock absorbers do not prevent roll, they are dampers. What prevents roll are the springs and the roll bar.
BTW, no rattles in my 2017 RDX.
I was comparing my KYBs for my Honda CRV which I was not impressed with. That is why I stated "I hope the KYBs are a lot better now for when I need them".

Plus the 2016-2018 RDX has a newer design suspension including the struts.
