Clunking from rear
#682
KYB 554406 from Rock Auto $63.79 plus shipping. This is the cure for clunking from the rear. KYB uses a rubber bushing on both the inner and outer body mount where the shaft attaches through the body in the cargo area. The stock (Koch I believe) does not. Perhaps this lack of an outer bushing is the cause of the clunking.

Yes I replaced mine and I have noticed no difference in ride quality, the same as stock. You are correct about Sachs. Easy replacement as well especially with having access to the top of the shock in the cargo area via those removable panels.

Advanced
Just replaced mine with the KYB's. 3rd set of shocks with just under 70K. Very easy replacement, and zero loss of ride quality. Clunking gone instantly.
My only suggestion.... if you haven't invested in a nice set of pass through sockets, do yourself a favor and get them. Made the top nut a breeze taking on and off.

Wanted to say thanks to everyone in this forum. Similar issue with my ILX with same design of shock, I was able to resolve the clunk and rattles in my car beyond what the dealer could do (by replacing with the same crap design) and went and swapped for OEM civic si shocks. Rattle clunk and harshness gone instantly. So quiet now.

Just had our 2013 base come out of the dealer after they replaced the rear passenger strut. On the service receipt it says that the existing strut was leaking, so I don't know what the issue may be still because I'm still noticing the noise though when pulling right into our driveway or a parking lot.
Perhaps sway bar bushings need more grease?

Plan to drop it off at the dealer sometime this week and have them take a look at the other side too plus looks into whatever else they think it might be.
