anyone have torque specs for the front strut's?

hey all i did my struts on a 2014 acura rdx but wasn't sure of the torque spec, i just tightened them for now but will torque once i can find the correct info

i am mostly looking for the torques for the nuts at the top. the ones that are under the hood under the plastic grommit things. theres 3 small ones that connect to the strut mount i believe they are called flange nuts and then theres a bigger nut in the middle which i believe is the main nut that connects the strut to the hood area etc

thank you!

I think what you're looking for is in the attached, p.5, Fig. 1.

thank you so very much. sadly it doesnt seem to show the top strut nut that is in the middle. i assume since acura never removes that maybe they don't show a torque for that on this page?

Hopefully somebody with experience will chime in.

It looks from the drawing as though the center nut is a pre-assembled part of the strut assembly, holding the strut together and the high tension spring under tension. Messing with springs without knowledge and the right tools can maim or kill somebody.

Did you replace the entire strut assembly including springs or did you remove the springs from the old struts?

I removed so that’s why I was looking for the torque spec!

hi jim, if you don't mind would you have any instructions to remove the plastic cover under the hood that hides the strut nut? i popped off most of the plastic around and removed the grommets for the 3 flange nuts however i am not able to pop off the plastic where its hiding the main strut nut

thanks

Maybe ask the strut manufacturer, and/or the seller you bought them from.

I don't, sorry. I only found the instructions I posted earlier because they were posted elsewhere (probably here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rdx-...quests-983025/ ) and I happened to download them for future reference if ever needed. Haven't needed them myself. If I were doing the job, I probably would have bought the complete assemblies that include new springs already installed, and installed them per the instructions. Therefore, no need to remove or torque that bolt.

found it!! thanks yall

according to the service manual the main strut nut is torqued at 44 lb foot according to the below attached pic. However KYB says its supposed to be 22 lb foot. not sure who to trust

lastly the 3 nuts to secure the strut mount to the chassis is 32 lb foot
