2016 rdx owners radio code

So i guess acura used to put the radio code on a card in the glove box but stopped doing so with 2016 models. My salesman has told me its on a cd provided then says you just hold radio button down for few seconds. Any new owners know real version?

For the current Acura audio systems, if you lose power, you just need to hold the audio power button for a few seconds and it'll reactivate itself.

Key Code?

That reminds me- the manual says something about a key code but my new '16 didn't have one (probably should have been in the glove box with manual). The salesman said not to worry about it since the car would have to be reprogrammed anyway if I lost a key. Does this sound right?

I think you may be referring to the small tag that has a bar code on it. It probably was on the key ring of Remote #2.

Yes, that's it, but I didn't receive it. Should I be concerned?

Hopefully you will never need a replacement key/fob. But if you do, my dealer said this tag would be absolutely necessary in order to obtain a replacement.

I would request the dealer to obtain this for you, as you should rightfully have it.

Just replaced the battery in our 2014. They did have a radio code sticker in our owners manual, but it was not needed. Just had to hold the power button, and everything came back on.

Surprisingly, it did save all of the presets for all of the sources.

Unfortunately, the car did not save the memory settings for the seats.

The card you need to get the codes is the card I (and others) didn't get.

I didn't get a card either. After a trip to the dealer, they found a sticker stuck to the inside of our owners manual. It wasn't labeled as the radio code. Turns out we didn't need it anyway, but it was there. I obviously cant speak for the 16's but it may be a similar situation.

What's the radio code for? Never heard of it. I bought my '16 back in May.

It was a security code; in case your radio was stolen, a thief couldn't use the radio since it wouldn't activate.

When the battery is disconnected the codes are required to get the radio and nav back on line once reconnected.

I remember back in the 80's when a LOT of BMW's had a hole in the dash where their so-called deluxe Blaupunkt Radios used to occupy. I had at least 2 of them taken from my '82 BMW 318. I find it VERY hard to believe that anyone would want the radio in my '16 RDX.

However, if the code is needed for a battery replacement, that's a serious deal. I don't remember getting a code from my dealer, but I'm going to look through the crappy manual that came with the vehicle. FWIW, I got the REAL manual from Acura which is about 3 times the thickness of the dingo crappy version. I'm guessing some Acura Bean Counter came up with "quick start" manual.

If you want one, you have to call Acura Care and it then takes 2 or 3 weeks for them to send it to you.

Or, you can just consult the DVD version that came with your car. You did get one, right? Won't help if you're looking for bedtime reading, but all the info is there for reference if you need it.
