In my 2016 acura rdx with 133,000 miles, The dealer replaced the compressor. Despite this, the air conditioner usually blows cool, not cold, air even on the "LOW" temperature setting However, on several occasions, after driving the car for 20+ minutes or so, the air coming from the vents will suddenly turn very cold. A the same time the force of the air coming out of the vents will increase. Previously there also was a chemical odor to the air in the situation when it turns very cold but most recently, I didn't smell the odor.The cabin air filter is new.

Has anyone experienced similar? Any suggestions?

 

If there are still issues and it was just replaced recently, I'd bring back the car asap and have them actually fix it.

Took it back and they said it was working fine. They had it maybe an hour on a reasonably cool day.

If the vent air goes from cool to very cold and the vent air increases at the same time this could be the air mix or recirculation doors changing position. Do you notice any difference in vent air temperature between the driver's side and passenger side vents? Have you tried cycling the recirc/fresh air button to see if this makes any difference when the air is only coo? The climate control air mix doors could be in the incorrect position due to a bad or intermittent temperature or sunlight sensor input and you can use the self diag mode to help determine is this is the cause. One the air goes from cool to very cold after from driving for some amount of time does the vent air remain very cold from that point on?

There's a climate control self-diagnostic mode for your car and I can post more information about this if I know if you have navigation or not. Let me know and I'll post the correct information on how to get into the self diag modes and what to expect.

Was the compressor replaced because of this problem originally?
