2013 RDX Transmission issue
2013 RDX Transmission issue
Hello Everyone,
New member here struggling with my sons 2013 Acura RDX with Tech package. Attached to this post is a small video of the problem we are having. When driving the gear number displays below "D" and the rpm's go up, this happens continuously while driving. There are no codes stored or pending. It has 173k miles and he has had it since 2017 when it had 40k miles. I have helped him take care of it and changed the trans fluid at 105k when I did the timing belt. Thought it might be the 3rd clutch pressure switch, replaced it and changed fluid, didn't fix it. He drove it like that for a few days, took it to a couple of local mechanics who couldn't diagnose it. I brought it back home (we are 80 miles apart, so not a fun ride) and the next day I drained the fluid and refilled with 3.3 quarts. Took it out and it was fine, drove it about 40 miles and it ran great. The fluid was dark even though we changed it about a week before. So decided to do the 2 more drain and fills. Each time I took it out and it ran great, total of about 150 miles. Thought the issue was solved. Well took it out again today and it is back to the same issue. Replaced all the pressure switches but didn't fix it. Next step is taking it to a dealer which isn't able to look at it for at least another week. In the meantime I thought I would post the issue on this forum hoping someone might know how to resolve this. Open to suggestions.

Well the issue was worn clutch packs, I drained and refilled a few more times and each time the fluid came out dark, so the transmission was slipping. Final fill was done with maxlife atf and lucas transmission fix. It helped but did it occasionally on the drive to the dealer to trade it in. Being 13 years old and almost 174k miles it wasn't worth it to us to put another trans in it.
