Well guys, today it finally happened. This morning as I am driving to school, I get the christmas tree colored dashboard and the extended shift to third gear. Needless to say I am totally shoked by all of this because my CL gave me no forewarning to the transmission going out . To top it all off the stealership did not have any "loaners" to give me until Tuesday at the latest. To look on the bright side, I am glad I bought an extended warranty. I will be gald when it is fixed because I am going straight to the dealer and pick up an Altima SE R. Any info on this car before I jump the gun and wave by to the CL???

First off, sorry to hear about your transmission and it not giving any of the signs.

Glad to hear you had a warrenty.

Also, sorry to hear you are looking to get rid of the CL

if you are asking about the Altima SE R, couple of thoughts.

1. This is the 2nd gen cl forum
2. maybe you should ask in the car talk forum?
3. maybe a altima forum would be better?

Test drove a SE-R not to long ago, b/c my roommate has the 3.5 and i wanna race him so bad. It has a good amount of torque, but it seems to fall off at about 5g's. It also looked great on the outside but looked real cheap on the inside.

Man, getting rid of the CL just because of the transmission? Whyyyyy!!!!!! So many other great things about that car.... Eh as for the Altima there are allot of great things about the car except the interior is so krappy (which coming from the CL will bother you), if it wasn't for that I'd prolly be all over Altima's or Maxima's right now.

I used to have a 98 Maxima, and he 2002 Maxima. Performance wise they are quite good. Prefer them over the Altima's back end but the SE-R is nice looking. Now I have a 03 TL-S and the Acura interior is nicer. The Nissan engine is wonderful, but the Acura has more class IMO.

To my surprise, the dealership told me it was my IAC valve that was causing my trouble. Orginally the tech said it was my transmission and that my warranty would fully cover, but last week I get a call stating that my repair would be $650.00 and my warranty won't cover it. . That furhter propeled my anger with Acura, I have over 100,00 miles but am paying and arm and a leg for this car. Don't get me wrong it is an awsome performer, but why pay this much money when I could get something newer that could possibly out perform it.
