Oil jet recall

Hi All,

Need advice from this group. I received the recall letter but not sure when to take the car to the dealer. My car currently has 12000 miles. Should i wait unit it passes 15000 miles so that they chcek the 2nd gear? Or should I just do it now without the 2nd gear inspection? Can someone also share their experience with Bay Area dealers when they go for this recall? Thanks. I also posted a similar comment in the TL forum.

why would you wait for a certain amount of time? you take it in whenever you want.....most people do it right away.

Better to get it over with and take your medicine like we did; mine didn't make it home (50mi) from the oil kit/fluid change. They were really nice though, hauld'er back and stuffed a new one in and gave a her free car wash.

free car wash... i need a new tranny if my shyt is gonna fail some day..

i dont want the shop guys toucing the car until it is absolutely necessary....

i have heard too many oiljet stories that end in the tranny failing.... isnt the point of the oiljet to keep the tranny going???

that sucks...

OIL JET RECALL ....This terminology seem's so appropriate!

I wonder WHEN they are going to do a """ RECALL """ on the oil jet kit RECALL !

exactly... i think the oil jet shyt kit is the problem along with the original problem...

the oil jet is not a fix... its an attempt at a fix.... i am waiting til the fucker is slipping like an ice cube in a hockey rink...

i wont go in until i have to... and i will tell them that the oil jet shyt kit isnt working for many of the cars out there...

f8ck a band-aid...

this is a performance/luxury car... shouldnt have a quick fix on it at all...

they need to fix the tranny problem and give us all... "PROBLEM FREE" trannys...

I think this oil jet is stupid. Exactly what others have said on here about the 'bandaid' effect. We shouldnt be having an additional part added to the car to help with the problem, they should replace the part that is having the problem. People having problems after the oil jet install is starting to scare me now. Hopefully they will just replace mine since I notice issues from 1-2 and from 3-4.

Something interesting

Honda is so proud of their Oil Jet Kit that they will not send you the service bulletin. I have a Helm's Acura CL Service Manual which I use to service my CL. Well, when the oil jet was installed the manual becomes obsolete as far as the transmission is concerned. I called American Honda and requested the service bulletin. Their reply, "we cannot provide you with the service bulletin". Now what is a person to do if he has to service or repair any of the components near the oil jet? I think Honda should make this information available to all owners whether they service their vehicle or not. Why does Honda protect this information? What are the hiding?

I am waiting because there is no problem with my car. if it aint broke, don't fix it. when a problem arises, THEN and ONLY THEN will I bring it in. WAY too many people are having problems with their previously well working car after the oil jet bandaid was applied.

I think I'm going to go in complaining about the slipping and see what they say. If they try to say the oil jet thing...then I'll ask, "i thought that is only for the 2nd gear, what about the slipping I'm noticing in 3-4?"

Damn, now I AM worried. No probs whatsoever with my CLS. Since it is under 24,000 km, the service guys said they don't even inspect, they just do the recall install automatically.

My Acura dealer is a 2 hour drive away, and I don't even get a loaner or a free rental, even if the car is held over night. I hate having to use vacation days just to get a damn oil change.
