Winter Driving

Well I just switched from an AWD Talon to an 03 CL-S. Just curious what some of you have done for winter driving conditions. What tires do you run? Anything else you have found that might give you better traction?

Well I think I have both of those. I'm keeping my set of 16" rims off the Talon with Conti DWS tires. I'm hoping fitment won't be an issue on the CL just for the winter months.

Civivdrvr, I tried pm'ing you but I don't have that privilege yet. I just purchased the pspec short shifter and was wondering how much trimming of the console you had to do?

I got that PM oddly enough but couldnt respond.

The shifter is from an Accord. You have to trim the silver surround and a bit of the console itself.

I'd love to see that video. I used to have an 03 TL-S but got rid of it after going through 3 transmissions. Now I'm back with the CL 6 speed.

I ordered the RSX one. I'm just hoping it doesn't come out looking like crap. Do you have any pics of the finished product? Did you end up doing any sanding?

what year was your talon. owned a 98 tsi-awd with MT. It was great for twisty roads. Never had snow tires but had excellent thread on the tires and slowed down.

It's a 95 AUTO. Tons of fun in the snow but only with snow tires. Couldn't get a bit of traction on all season tires. With the DWS tires I could punch it, lose traction for a second, and then regain control. Great tires. The 16" rims they are on are the same bolt pattern so it should work out great.

Once everything is back together you wont notice that anything was trimmed. Once you get the shifter mounted youll see what needs to be done. I used a dremel on the silver trim/shift boot ring and a file on the console. You'll notice it grabs slightly when you put it in reverse.

Thanks! I'm relieved to know that nothing shows. Can't wait to install now!
