Traction Bars

Why has no one built a traction bar for our car? We obviously need it. Comptech gave us 40-50 more whp via a s/c but no way to put it to the ground. You guys are always talking about 0-60, and 1/4 's this is the one product that would do the most benefit, minus slicks. I just find it strange that we have s/c, turbo mods, fuel management, all which increase our power. Yet the car has problems getting that power to the ground in stock form. Sorry for the rant guys....Just my thoughts on the matter.

traction bars are designed to prevent axle wrap.

the typical ingredients for axle wrap are a live axle, leaf springs, and lots of torque.

since the cl-s has none of these things, traction bars aren't likely to help much...

There are traction bars for FWD that get rid of wheel hop. Not one for the CL though.

One project at a time, but this is on the agenda.

There are Traction Bars or rather torque arms, etc. for FWD applications. It is meant control wheel hop:

Here is one for the GTP:

Did anyone ever get around to making these? My teggy friends were telling me about traction bars meant to prevent wheel hop and I was curious to see if there were every any made for the CL/TL. This is the only thread I found and didn't find anything on a quick google search.

Impressive.

Since I have never heard about traction bars before and since I haven't read much into how they work, would those help improve your 60' times even more?

Traction bars are what got Ed Bergenholtz a sub 10 sec 1/4 in a CRX (I believe he was the first to do it).

The theory behind it isn't to prevent the car from popping a wheelie, it's to jam the front tires to the ground for launch purposes. If your wheels are forced down, they are less likely to spin leading to better ability to put 500+ hp to the wheels of a front drive car.

With the SHO we had reducers that allowed owner to use Pontiac GTP torque arms. Makes it cheap to buy the reducers and then goto the junk yard and pull the rest of the parts off a junked car.

theres confusion on here of wheelie bars and traction bars. the original poster is talking about traction bars. i believe they preload the suspension by bolting in between the chassis and the lower control arms.

I definitely don't want to drive down the street with those . Now Traction Bars is a different story.
