Transmission Fluid Flush

Does anyone know when this is supposed to be done? My dealership says factory is 120k but they recommend it be done at 90k. I thought is was 60k? My fluid is muddy and am at 67k right now.

sounds like they are just trying to make more money . Another option u can do is go to somewhere else other then a dealership. Someone that is a reputable company

I do a three quart transmission “drain and fill” with Honda Z-1 fluid each year during my annual engine oil change (Red Line Synthetic 10/30). This replaces 1/3 of the transmission fluid each year and keeps it very clean.

I agree with Davidstringray. My dealership told me to change the tranny fluid every 25,000KMS especially for the 01 - 03 CL/TL. I had them flush mine when they did the transmission inspection recall and 1 year later it's brownish. Alternatively you could add Lucas Transmission Treatment. It's a great liquid that'll refresh the tranny fluid for at least a few more months. Nothing beats an actual flush with the recommended Honda fluid but if you can't afford to do it every year then try Lucas to extend the life.

However. If you've never changed the tranny fluid and you're at 80000K DO IT RIGHT AWAY!

I have a 2003 CL and having a problem locating the drain plug. Is the drain plug the one that requires a square tool to insert into the plug???? If so, would you know what size tool?

^^Yep, that sounds like it. if I remember correctly it's just a 3/8" ratchet. No specialty tools needed.

Best make sure the fill plug comes out before undoing the drain plug!

^^THAT one is the worst. I had to use a high torque impact wrench to get that damn thing off! And when I finally got it off the washer was chewed up so bad from the excess torque.
