So long story short.... I missed shifted and over revved my cls6 two years ago! I have been driving around with the cel on! It idles fine but gets horrible gas mileage! I'm 300 bucks short of paying it off! I scanned the code and it's say misfire on all cylinders! I have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs! But still cel! Also took it to Acura and they said timing is spot on? There's no possible way I bent all the valves and its idling fine and still running for two years is there? Any ways it's time to fix it, I'm scared to rebuild the heads and it doesn't fix the problem would y'all suggest starting somewhere else? I just want my car running normal again problem free! Thanks

 

What most people on here are going to say is grab a low-mileage J35A3 and drop it right in afte swapping camshafts. Change the clutch and all seals that are easy to get to and you'll have a reliable engine that drives just as well-behaved as the J32A2 but with gobs more torque.

 

Not looking to change engines! Just making sure I shouldn't try any thing else before having the head rebuilt!

 

It'll be easier and possibly cheaper to throw in an entire J35A3.

Cat has been replaced!!! Didn't fix the problem

 

Speaking from experience here. You bent all your exhaust valves. Options are to either replace the engine or the heads. You could replace all the exhaust valves on your current heads, but for the same price after parts/machine work..better off buying another set of heads.

A compression test will reflect this. PSI per cylinder should be 190-210psi. You're probably currently looking at 100-140psi/cyl. Rent a compression tester from your local auto parts store and report back

 

The CEL and bad mileage happened right after you over revved the engine? Pretty obvious you bent valves then, right?

Not like your coilpack or fuel injector is gonna go bad because you over revved.

 

I would have to get the other set of heads machined anyways might as well do mine! What do you think I'm looking at in price 2k?

It is cheaper to buy a J35A3 (got mine for $250) swap your cams and spring and roll down the road or just pick up a used J32A2. Either one can be had for about the same price.

 

Personally I wouldnt even bother fixing your heads or even getting a used set. As 03 tls nc mentioned, its more cost effective and less aggravation to just buy a motor and swap over the 6 speed stuff
