I took a look at the extended warranty for the SRS light but my car does not fall under the affected vechicles. Any idea what else could be causing the issue? It has been on for about a month now. Initially it would go on and and then turn off but for the last 3 wks or so it just stays on.

Any advice would be great.

 

Take it to the dealership. There are a couple reasons your SRS light will be on. My car had faulty sensors.....twice, and both times they took care of it. A lot of times it is due to the seatbelt buckle and they consider that a safety issue and are doing the work for free. No way to tell unless you take it in.
