SRS Light intermittent

OK so I booked my car into the local Acura dealership (01Cl-S) for what I expected would be covered under the "10 Year Warranty". Well no such luck, got told I will have to pay for everything and nothing is covered here in Canada because the car is 10 years old.

Here's the deal, sometimes when I have a passenger in the passenger seat the light goes out. I can't seem to replicate it, it just happens. If the seat is empty it is ALWAYS on, if occupied usually on, but sometimes it goes out.

I am thinking perhaps it's some sort of connection and hopefully somebody here has come across this. I don't mind paying the $70.00 to have them look at it, but I don't think it will really tell me anything they will just probably say replace the module regardless to cover their asses.

Any ideas?

Nope, but I have the EXACT same problem in my 2000 TL, and it just started today. Wonder if it is somehow extreme heat related? (a reach, I know).

All SRS fuses look good.

on the OP's car, it sounds like its the ODPS sensor located in the passenger seat. That unit is covered by a 10 year warranty and very expensive to replace.

Most of what triggers other member's SRS lights are seatbelt buckle related. Seatbelt buckles are part of Acura's lifetime seatbelt warranty. Of course these warranties could all very well be different in canada.

maybe see how much a seatbelt buckle is and replace it yourself. Its around 75 bucks at my dealership. Now sure how much the dealer quoted you for fixing it.

no warranty here in Canada. at least for sure not at this dealership. I wish there was "Vag COM" or something similar for Acura/Hondas and I could just get a buddy to scan it Taking it to the dealership and paying $70.00 everytime to get it scanned sucks.

These cars are a totally different world than what I am used to.
