Power steering fluid leaks

I'm a new member to this community. I owned a 2001 Acura CL 3.2 last week. I loved the car until 2 days back. Now, I'm having a weird sound whenever I try to turn the steering. I showed it to a mechanic and he said the power steering fluid is leaking and you need a new power steering hose. I remember I read something about the power steering hose being recalled for Acura CL 3.2 I wonder if I can go an acura dealer and ask him to replace it free of cost? I owned this car last week and I'm not sure if the previous owner has already made a change to it. Please help me in this. Can I get the power steering hose free of cost or do I have to buy one?

Best thing to do is to call the dealer and see if there is such a recall. There's not one, I think.

Yeah, I work at the dealer. I know there's not a recall for a power steering hose; only for '04-'08 TL's and TSX's.

Just hope that a new hose is the only problem.

You just gotta put some new fluid in it and find the leak. It's normally not too difficult. P/S pump, rack & pinion, or hoses. The noise you're hearing is pump sucking air when the fluid gets low.

A hose is under $20 & you can replace it yourself easy. No big deal. However it may be the steering rack. Better hope it's only the hose. I had to replace the rack. It was not cheap.

I just fixed this issue as well, it is probably a blown gasket or O-ring inside the power steering pump causing it to leak a little fluid and air (hence you hear the whistling sound). I just bought a rebuilt pump for $90 and replaced it, also flushed the system with new power steering fluid. The squeaking sound is gone and feels like new, can do a full U-turn in complete silence

Where did you get a rebuilt pump? My power steering has been leaking for some time.

I got a pump off a car in the junk yard OEM for $20. I've only ever seen a Honda PS pump go bad if it was run dry of fluid. Which I think the prior owner did on my CL as my pump was noisy and had weak pump action for the steering.

OP don't run your car with no PS fluid.

Most likely it's the high pressure hose coming off the pump going down to the rack. In 20 years of owning Honda's this has been the only PS hose I've had fail on them. It's usually under $100 for OEM hose online. About $80 non OEM at Autozone or such places.
