I'm back! Engine problem on my cl-s
I am now having engine issues with my 01 cl-s. I am getting check engine light and when I had my friend plug it in with his handy machine it said that every cylinder was misfiring. It won't rev past 5000 rpm and it won't drive over 40 miles per hour. I tried unplugging each ignition coil at a time to see if i lost performance when i did and the doesnt seem to be the problem but I'm not sure. I also noticed that all of a sudden my car sounds louder, like a race car. Doesn't drive like it tho!
any ideas?

I would go and buy one new coil pack and swap one coil pack at a time.
Typically it's one coil pack that is bad and it causes you to go multiple misfires.
So, start with the front left coil pack. Reset the CEL light and then replace the coil pack. Drive around for a little bit and see if it comes back. If it does, try the front middle coil pack and so forth until you figure out which one is bad. On rare occurances, you could have multiple bad coil packs. In that case, buy a second new one and swap two at a time. Just try all the combinations until you figure it out.
Obviously if none of that works, it could be injectors or other issues. Might be time to see a mechanic.

great advice go to www.car-parts.com and buy a new engine...J/K
Buy 1 or 2 coil packs and start switching them...Same thing happen to me I had P0300 and and misfire code in cylinders 2-4-5 so I just replaced coil pack #2 and it was all fine .. The ctlinders are
123
456
and fire 1-4-2-5-3-6 so I had 425 and replaced the first in line (4) and that fixed everything my car was shaking real bad and could not go over 40 MPH w/o the car feeling like it was gonna shake itself apart!
My bad coil pack had a spring in it and the spring looked burnet all the other coil pack springs looked good and the metal coler where the bad one the spring was melted and black so maybee look in the coils at the springs to see if any look melted.. Maybee it might be the spark prlugs also?

IM having the same issues with mine right now too, I think cylinder 1-3-5 are misfiring and also some other fault. I just ordered all new coil packs and hope this addresses the problem. But Ill keep coming back to check and see if it worked for you because Im hoping it does. How many miles on your car cause mine has approx 83k and its a 01 too. I just got the trans replaced under warranty about a year ago too.

Ok so I've had my EGR valve cleaned a hundred times and it has always cleared up the same problem your having.....but now my check engine light is back on and my dashboard is lit up like Christmas ..my car won't go above 50 and sounds like a truck lol Driving me nuts. My mechanic can't figure it out and I may have to bring it down to acura and get charged $1000 lol

Just get the RT cat from Excelerate. Its 1/3 the price Acura wants.

I was going to work on my sons car by replacing any bad coils but after your post I'm not sure i can. is there a way to reset the CEL by myself. I don't want to get stuck.
i has a similar experience when i added a couple of gallons of racing fuel. the car ran great but after i got on it a couple of times it acted up so i hooked up the comp and it said it was misfiring on just about all cylenders. to fix the prob i put in new plugs. lesson learned just because they recommend 93 or higher doesnt mean run racing fuel, lol
