EGR Valve vs. IAC Valve

I have a 2001 CL-S. 48,880 miles.

The car has been stalling, failing to start, and unstable idling. So, I took it in to get checked out. The diagnostic error was an EGR valve error, but after reading through the problems that most of you all have had in reference to the IAC valve, it sounds like the IAC would be my problem.

Can someone help me understand the major difference between the two valves and why it seems that the symptoms I am having sounds like the symptoms most of you have had with the faulty IAC valve?

They have already replaced the EGR valve($150 + labor), but Im still uneasy about this. Im going to pick it up from the service shop this evening and test it out. Any advice?

if you want to know a little more about the IACV, search for it and you'll find my and a few other threads with some helpful info and experiences.

LL

What's funny is that I am the 3rd owner. I bought it at 39,000 miles in 06. LOL

check engine light

I have an 1998 CL 2.3 with 168,000 miles and the check engine light has been on for about 6 months. It started out when i would turn the air on and go off when the air cond was turned off.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks

you may want to repost in the 1st gen section. This is the 2nd gen CL section. You have a 1st gen CL since it's a 98.
