i think i need an ecu
i just had the engine replaced in my 01 cl-s an the guy who replaced it said i need a new ecu or my check engine light wont go off. he said that the ecu is not letting my vtech come on so it hiccups really bad when i try to accelerate fast an ill have to let off the gas for it to stop. need some help please!

You replaced it with another J32A2 right? Not an A1? Maybe the VTEC solenoid is bad. Go to Auto Zone and have them read the code. Then let us know what it is.

Yup, VTEC system malfunction. Check oil level and oil pressure. Your VTEC solenoid might be bad.
Clear the code, start the car. Keep it at idle. Does the CEL come on? If so, its electrical. Check the connector on the solenoid.
If it only comes on past 4k rpms, its oil related.

Its located on the oil filter housing. Make sure the oil pressure switch plugs and VTEC solenoid plugs arent swapped. I dont remember if they switched the plugs for the newer models or if they are the same like the older engines.
