Windshield Wiper. Driver side stops at 3 different locations, passenger side died
Well I bought the car 3 or 4 months ago, and one problem I'd noticed was that the driver side windshield wiper would stop at 3 different locations. Most of the time it'd stop 'short' of the edge, like 3 or 4 inches from the edge, sometimes it would stop right at the edge like normal and other times it'd go over the edge, at high speeds it caused the wiper to almost wrap around the car. This almost seemed to be dependent on my driving speed.
Then a couple of days ago the passenger side windshield wiper suddenly stopped working all-together, funny, that one never gave me a problem.
So do you think it could be the wiper rods? I was told there are 2 wiper rods that need to be replaced by some local Honda/Acura specialist shop, but they wanted $210 to fix it, 2 hours labor plus $40 in parts. I've got a mechanic friend who I'll have to do the work but it means I got to pick up the parts, so does anybody believe that could be the problem? Is there additional parts I should pick up and replace while we rip into the wiper system. I was told getting to the motor and connectors and such is a bit of a challenge.
Oh, there is some 'play' in the driver-side wiper, like when the car's off and the wipers down, I notice it has maybe an inch of up/down wiggle room. I was once told in a forum what the problem is but I'll be damned if I can find that post anymore, all the old posts appear to be missing.

Could be the rods. Theres also plastic bushings that wear out. Its most likely that. I thought you can replace just those bushings but I cant find a part number for them.
Pull the plastic covers off the trim along the bottom of the window. You can see the wiper rods from there. See if there is any slop in them.
The rod part numbers are:
76540-S0K-A01
76550-S0K-A01
