I think I blew my clutch

I have an 03 cl-s 6-speed. If im doing about 45 mph and just floor my car in third gear it goes but as soon as it hits around 5000 rpms it free revs up to red line. It does this in second gear also and I thought the tires were spinning from 4500 rpms and up, but it was really slipping. It also free revs in 4th gear when it hits around 4500 rpms floored. I have 100,000 miles on the car with the stock clutch so I really hope its just the clutch.

Sounds like the clutch is just worn. Should not be too much more to it.

Ok, say I need a new clutch kit. I have I/H/E so should I go with a stage 1 or 2 or oem? And what brand?

OEM should be fine with those mods. Just break it in properly.

if you want it to reliably run another 100,000 miles, then go oem.

Auto Com makes an oe clutch kit for $180.00. Do you think that would be fine?

You mean "OEM equivalent"?

Go with ACURA. You'll be happy with yourself in the end.

Search around for prices though, and most dealers are willing to haggle on the price alittle bit.

Auto Com is the cheapest clutch I found and they specifically state that they are OE spec ( I dont know what OE is compared to OEM ) but all the other (stock) clutches are $350 and more. I mean I will spend the money to get the right clutch but I dont want to spend more than I have to. I would love to get a clutch thats one step better than an OEM but they start at around $600 for a performance clutch. Also, whatever clutch I get is it easy enough to change the clutch where I can have a tranny shop do it for decently cheap, or is that something you would only let an ACURA dealership do?

i would say go with the Oem acura one if you dont have that many mods done. There are alot of people who have had to change out their clutch and stuck with the oem and havent had a problem as long as you break it in correctly. As for getting it changed by acura or another tranny shop either way is fine. Its not hard to change out so any good tranny shop can do it. I did it on the ground with 2 jacks and the car on jack stands and that sucked but i was able to do it with the help of a friend because that tranny is heavy as hell. just make sure they warranty their work and that would depend on the shop but i know acura does.
