So, while driving home from work today, I dread the worst may have happened, tranny failure. My question to those who have experienced this is: Did your dash light up with the check engine light, the VSA, and VSA off (Yellow yield sign with ! in it) indicator? The car was misbehaving and I have experienced these symptoms before back when my ECU froze. I am going to the dealership tomorrow. I just wonder what you guys all thought??? Any feedback would be great. Thanks all.

 

Typically it's tranny failure but until you get the codes read, who knows.

Keep us informed. See if you can get the CEL codes.

This is a perfect reason to go out and buy even a cheap ODBII reader. It's really nice to know what you're up against before you head to the dealer.

And ironically, the brand of scanner I have is Actron.

 

This is what happened to me when my trans gave out. It was slipping, I feathered the gas and got it to shift, stayed in gear for a second and then slipped out again and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I just assumed it was the trans, since the car wouldn't move under its own power anymore. BUT when I came back with the trailer I was able to drive it on? I'm replacing the trans this weekend anyway, I cant risk it going in and out on me all the time. I'd like to hear what the dealer has to say about this though.

Well now that I am near my car again I can update somewhat. All of my lights were off except the check engine light. I tried to scan it last night and it didnt show any error codes (past or current). I treid to clear them anyway and the light is still on. Trans is also making a nice whining noise when the car is running. Anyway, its not much help to anyone, but I wanted to thow out any info I could.
