I got the codes run and it said it was the auxiliary emission control. the code is

P1456

Any one know exactly what this is..???

Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System)
The manual goes into a whole procedure to test the system out, but It's likely a bad gas cap, or Bad purge valve.

I got the same code when my purge valve died. Not just ticking, but it was stuck in open loop & would not close.

 

What am I looking at as far as cost/ part number?? Thanks a lot for your help

 

Research it. It's covered in the FAQ & there are many posts on the purge valve. It's a $50 part & 5 minutes to put on.

 

First thing first. Remove the gas cap then put it back on and tighten it till it starts clicking. I would disconnect the neg battery terminal for a few minutes. Then check to see if the CEL comes back. More often than not it's just the gas cap not being screwed on tight enough.
