2001 Acura CL-S 3.2 won't start

I have a 2001 Acura CL-S 3.2 and the battery died due to the lights being left on. I replaced the battery with a brand new yellow top Optima. As soon as I installed the battery the alarm went off so I grabbed the key and locked and unlocked the driver door. The alarm stopped but the car wouldn't start. There is power in the car and all the lights work but the car won't even crank. It just makes a click sound.

You have a bad connection at the battery or battery is weak and needs to be recharge before use.

Try jiggling the battery cables to make better contact.

Use another car to jump start it. If it cranks you will know its a current problem.

It's actually a brand new battery straight from pep boys. And I tried to jump it using another car and still no crank, just the click sound. There is power to everything else but the car won't crank or start

Check fuse or relay? Maybe something touched.

Well I actually tried to remove the 120A main battery fuse and couldn't get it back in all the way but the shop I took it to said they checked that and it wasn't the problem. I think the problem is the alarm. When I first connected the new battery the alarm started goin off. Maybe the alarm isn't allowing the car to start.

If it's not a power problem then test the starter.

Test the alarm by setting it and opening the door through the driver's window. Then turn it off with the remote by unlocking it.

The shop actually just called and said they checked the starter, alternator and battery and said they were all fine. They said they're testing the electrical aspect to see if anything went wrong there. And I don't have the remote for the alarm.

Try locking and unlocking the car with the key at the door lock cylinder. That will reset the alarm if its working right.

Did you try setting off the alarm?
I know it's not the immobilizer because it just cuts the fuel off, it would still crank.

Just got the car back from the shop. Everything is working fine on it. The mechanic says it was the wiring going to the ignition switch, he showed me the old wires and they were melted and in bad shape. They charged me $210 for the labor.
