'03 6speed road noise

Bought '03 6speed manual with 81K. Road noise seems more noticeable than my '01 automatic which I bought new. Thought it was due to tires. Swapped wheels and tires from '01 to '03 but that helped just a little. Any suggestions??

Too early in the morning when I posted this... should have said wheel and tire swap DID NOT help very much with road noise.

Michelins... took the ones that came with my '01 when bought new and put them on my '03. Noise not as bad but is still there... Bearing noise I'm familiar with would be constant roar... this noise is more of a whop-whop. Don't know any other way to discribe it

I have always thought that the CL was loud on the road too. It does not feel very much like a lux car. It is not quiet and feels a bit out of balance all the time and is a bit harsh. The 6 speed is also more jerky and harder to drive than any car I have owned. It will jerk from time to time in 4th and 5th gear while cruising at moderate speeds with the tach in the low 2K range. It is also hard to shift smooothly unless you are really deliborate about it. This is my 3rd MT car (previous was 2002 Corvette and 1991 300 zx) I am not trying to rip on the car. I just expected a bit more refinement when I got it. Mine only has 47K miles on it and I put new tires on it about 7k ago and the noise was about the same. The new tires are toyo proxes 4 in the stock size of 215/50. I also wish to God I could lower the seats... but what the hey.

'01 CL I bought new in June 2001 is automatic trans... would have bought a 6sp MT had it been available. 6sp MT became available with '03 models which came out in March '02. This really ticked me off, Acura dealer I bought '01 from said they had "no idea" a 6sp MT would be available... But anyway, I still have the '01 and I enjoy the '03 as well, but would enjoy it more so if I could just get rid of the noise... Will be changing trans fluid soon, going to put Amsoil Synthetic Synchromesh. May not help at all, but the fluid change is needed anyhow...

May want to check your engine mounts. As well as other suspension pieces. Also remember the 6mt has the LSD & may transfer more road noise because of it.

Limited-Slip Differential. Its purpose it too keep one wheel from spinning faster than another.
