Spring Installation in progress...
Spring Installation in progress...
In an exposition of my extreme impatience, and how good my friends are- we started to install my new suspension at 12:00 AM, even though the instuctions all said to plan an entire day!
Well, I wasn't completely prepared with all the tools I needed, including the wrench to take off my wheels, or a rachet big enough to handle the lengthiest part of the process. By 5:00 AM I had my car back on the ground, but with only one of the new springs in, so it was a bit unbalanced. I limped it home so my friends could go to sleep, while I finished the other front spring.
I got help from a friend at the local Chevron, who used his air tools to really speed up the process. I was testing my new springs by 8:00 AM, when I found out that I actually had to slow down for speed bumps now, since going over a 25 mph bump at 25 mph caused a slight scrape. On the plus side, Taking corners felt much nicer and body roll was significantly reduced.
I have yet to install the rear springs as I am fatigued from lack of sleep and this manual labor, but the rears are only supposed to take half the time of the fronts.
I am curious to see how much of a difference the rears will make as far as cornering!
Before we began:

My friend Jon has the right to sleep- we're at his house!

Scott helped out most of the time

This is my wheel off

Let's say I was a little excited to get the stock strut off

But what I had to do next took an enormous amount of time (without the proper tools)

After taking the car down, with only one side with a new spring.

At home, I got the other side down

Another angle

Almost touching the curb

Another angle

In my parent's driveway

From the ground

So right now my car looks decked (I wonder if other people on the road notice and wonder if I'm confused, trying to make my car look like a 69 camaro or something...). I like the drop, and I'm planning on getting an alignment once I put the rears on. But I also heard that you can set the toe-in beforehand, and maybe someone has a link to a DIY?

scott's referring to my headlights which i showed him last night.... since the car is decked like this, my low-beams project maybe 20 feet at most!!
i know i could easily adjust them, but i would just have to adjust them back since i hope to do my rear springs really soon...

oops when i was typing in the image urls the one with my friend jon in his jeep came up twice... he was letting me work at his house, but he was too tired to help - so he slept there in his car in the driveway next to us...
