dyno results from yesterday, 356WHP 296WTQ

the dynos are in BHP. my car shows ~10% drivetrain loss on their dyno. the numbers in the above graphs are WHP + ~10%.

going to the strip tomorrow night.

I would think that with 353 whp when the N20 kicks in it might give a pretty good jolt to the car. Which in turn might close the hood, regardless of the hydraulic supports.

Congratulatins on the Dyno.

That's a HUGE ass number Matt. The way you keep on raising the bar, I'm never going to be in the game Did they have to tune the Unichip to accomodate the 100 shot?

10% drivetrain loss.

No way is that correct, especially for the 5AT.

Maybe just for the purposes of this dyno they chose 10% to make everything fit on the graph. There's a big difference between no N20 and the 100 shot. I still don't know why they convert everything back to crank horsepower, I guess to show a greater increase in gains.

If thats crank HP, then that's probably right...mine (6spd) did 290FWHP on the 75 shot and probably around 315FWHP on the 100shot (never actually dynoed 100 shot) b/c my MPH in the 1/4mile went from 107 to 109 on the shot difference...good numbers though...should be looking at low 13's...

the maps for the 100 shot are custom, at least the timing map is. i think my fuel maps are the same for both n/a and n2o.

the chip is working fine without the n2o. i've noticed some gains along w/ better gas mileage. have yet to see an improvement at the strip though.

i have yet to smoke a tranny from n2o, though i did lose my first at 37K, before i had the system.

i've run maybe 6 bottles through the car, 2 on the dyno, 4 @ the strip. this afternoon will be the first time i've sprayed a 100 shot at the strip.

let me try and explain the way their dyno works... the actual pull is the same as on any dyno. get the car in to 3rd in SS, hold the rpm's @ a couple thousand rpm's for a few seconds to equalize the IAT, then start the pull from ~2000 rpm, run it all the way to 7000 rpm. while that is happening the WHP graphs are being drawn on the screen.

as soon as the car hits 7000 rpm the tech shifts it into neutral and it is allowed to coast to a stop. this is where the dastek dyno figures the drivetrain loss. while this is happening the the graph is still being generated. the plot drops off to the bottom of the chart and makes it's way back the where it started at ~ 2000 rpms.

after the decel it displays WHP and BHP on the dyno screen.

unichip uses only the BHP numbers in their graphs and advertising for the same reasons the car manufacturers do, because they are bigger numbers.

i asked Josh how he thought the WHP numbers generated by the dastek dyno compared to a dynojet, he said they were close. he had a dynojet in his previous shop.

i think that all things considered, my previous dynos on this machine compared with my trap speeds at the strip, the WHP numbers are in the ball park.

Quick Reply: dyno results from yesterday, 356WHP 296WTQ
