OK, josh sent me an actual screen shot of the dyno, this shows both WHP and BHP. the cluster at the top are the BHP (green yellow red)

the cluster of the same colored lines below it are the WHP.

the lines falling off after 7k and heading back to the origination are from the dyno measuring the drivetrain loss.

Nice numbers but if the 04 TL is the limit of FWD at 270 HP I can only wonder what the CL is like with that kind of juice...

The limit of FWD??? Many CL-S's on the board are pushing over 300whp

Interesting how they try to calculate drive-train loss by measuring the deceleration of the rollers with only the tranny and engine 'friction' I suppose. However, that calculation also includes engine drag; by that I mean friction of moving parts in the engine which are not usually removed to show crank hp.

500hp feels pretty good on a FWD CL, so 270 is nothing

It is odd how they calculate it, I've never heard of that before but I can see why they do it (show bigger gains). 356 whp is all that matters though.

Matt did you hit the track tonight?

Of course he's talking in perfect conditions. Put that puppy in the snow or rain....

But even a RWD car would be bad. personally 500HP on a FWD car wouldn't be as fun to drive to me as a RWD. Spend too much effort dealing with torque steer.

Quite honestly, torque steer is not bad and nearly non-existent. Complete traction is lost well before any effect of torque steer can be felt.

The big problem is understeer. It takes careful throttle control to not induce serious understeer. Too much throttle in a turn and the tires loose traction, pushing the car way wide. But lift the throttle too quickly and you are likely to have the back end come around on you. So, throttle control is paramount and easy transitions are required.

And this occur in my measly 370 WHP CL-S. Now try out 500 WHP.

But once you get use to handling the power it becomes like any other vehicle. But certainly, RWD would be more gratifying in launching and throttle controlled oversteer.

i had problems at the track last night. i don't have time to explain right now.

i had to change my jetting back to a 75 shot and i still had CEL's.

best time n/a - 14.21@98.54

best time 75 shot - 13.48@104.51

i did tear up a n2o firebird though, he left me at the line, 1.9 60' to my 2.18. but i came back and had him at the 1/8. then i proceeded to show him the tails.

ended up running a 13.49@103.68 to his 13.78@106.08.

the dude had to be shocked.

My stock 260 HP CL-S gets torque steer when I floor it from a standing stop. When I hit the gas going into a turn I get torque steer. The TL, which does 270 HP, has bad torque steer on the stick shift. I can only imagine how much worse this must be with more power.

There is a reason why very high horsepower cars only come in RWD or AWD.

Same here, it only jerks if I hit a pothole or bump ahen at WOT. It tugs a tiny bit if I floor it in the middle of a corner, but that more due to the tires spinning than torque steer. Scalbert has the proven power, so I'll take his word on how the car acts with that amount of hp.

The CL is a great car, and I love mine, but it ain't RWD and now FWD car will ever handle as well as a RWD one on the twistys.

Great. Then my next question would be why increase HP so much? Why not just by a RWD car?

I "get" it but, if I wanted a great handling coupe I'd buy a RWD car. This Acura is the first FWD car I've ever owned - and if I didn't work for Acura I probably never would have considered it otherwise - but I just can't see how throwing more power into a FWD system is going to improve handling. Still, many people here have done some very impressive things with their CLs and it's cool to read about them so good job.

who said anything about handling? my car handles pretty well, but i get a kick out of straight line acceleration.

He probably missed a shift somewhere after the 1/8th mark due to a load of shit filling up his pants as you passed him

I pick up the S/C CLS today... might try and swing by the dyno tomorrow. Should be around 280whp with the HBP right?

If it's a manual expect more like 295-300, the autos are in the 265-270 range.
Congratulations Steve.

i am very interested in seeing your dyno. we have the almost exact same setup. im not 100% sure on all your mods, post them all up when you can. you should enjoy the power, i know it felt great the first time i tested the car out!
btw, i am running the hbp also, but i am in cali. what octane gas do you get? i expect no less than 270 from our setups. good luck!
