yet another stang kill, 94-98 gt

was headin to the gym when i pull up to this previous model stang gt drop top, i put my window down....

me: you wanna get smoked
stang: are you serious while he looks at my car

he puts his car in gear and is reving it, now i know he has a manual

light turns green and were off, he sorta slept at the light and i put like nearly 10 cars on him when i shut it down at the end of 2nd
i slowed down and waited for him to catch back up so we can go from a roll, i was at 80 and i let him punch it first so i knew it was on, i immedialtly gained the lead back and put like 4-5 cars on him by the time i shifted into 4th

we get to another light and he puts his window down "your car us fast as fuck man" i'm like i know, thanks, lol

what a sorry ass excuse for a 4.6l v8

Good kill. I used to take them all the time in my Probe GT (w/ about $1500 in mods) .
You just have to watch for 96-98 GT's that have the heads swapped from a 99+ GT. They are over a full second faster in the 1/4 then the non-headswapped ones.

No, it's the heads. The 99+ have the PI heads which flow tons better and don't choke the engine. 96-98 GT guys that swap to 99+ heads end up with about 10.5:1 compresion and can run 13's easily with just a gear and some sticky tires.

yeah..and there is no way to tell if it has the head swap.

As for the diff between the 98 and 99. There are many diff. all you need to know is that the 99 GT's run 14.4-13.8 @98-101 stock depending on the driver. The avg 1/4 should be 14.1 @99ish from what I've seen at the track for a stock 5 speed 99+ GT. So they are much faster then the 98's.

darrin wait till my dad gets his Cobra(should be late this year or early next year). I'll race you in that, there's no point for me to race you in my RSX because we know what the outcome will be.

My dad runs 14.23 @ 99mph in his stock 00 Gt 5 speed coupe. I know a guy hat with a shift kit and catback on his 01 GT Coupe AOD runs 13.8 @ 100 mph.

and 03 Cobra would tear you apart man. RWD is awesome. But there is also that 390 horsepower thing that they have going on. I am thinking you would have to have a humongous shot to keep up. But you gotta admit. For a luxury car, the CLS is damn fast.

stock 5spd gt's are capable of running 13.9, but they gotta be well driven, like extremely well driven, i'm just guessing but i'd say only 1 out of every 5,000 gt owners can go 13.9 in a stock gt, its gotta be cold out and they gotta be gettin like 2.0 60's

when i'm at the track some modded stangs are having trouble breaking into the helmet club

Actually he's just about 100% correct in those numbers. The problem is that there are alot of shitty drivers out there that run high 14's, and people assume that's how slow they are. :o

I'm gonna guess your mod list, wish me luck.

PI Headswap with some porting
Bullit Intake
Vortech S-Trim @ 10psi
42lb injectors
80mm Lightning MAF
70mm FMS TB
2800 rpm Stall converter

I know in your sig is says "all motor- bottles are for babies", but I don't see you running 118mph without some sort of forced induction on a 281.

Ok, now spill your mod list

BTW is that a GTS?

Actually, its 114mph
And yes it is all motor. No supercharger, turbo or nitrous. Just crappy gears and traction. That run was at Carlsbad for all you socal people...worst track ever. I usually trap anywhere from 113-115.

I'm impressed. You're mod list was 100% wrong:P I don't have any of that. Its a 5spd w/ LTs, o/r H-pipe, Magnaflows, and misc other stuff

Don't underestimate the lil' 281. Once I get my 4.56s installed and some better tires, I'll be hunting for 11s N/A...and THEN the 100shot goes on

Want to take another stab at my mods??

And yes, it is a GTS/248a GT

Ok, well how much godamn weight have you ripped off? I meant 114mph, I don't know why I typed 118.

I assumed it was an automatic because most 5 speed's come ith the 3.08's.

C'mon now, exhaust doesn't get 114mph and higfh 12's in any 4.6L (sohc). Is it a high compression/stroker?

OK im playing the guessing game. 01 Cobra motor with a cold air intake and/or a 87mm mass air, pullies, the exhaust mods you already said, a ported and polished upeer and lower intake, and a chip??

Edit...I just looked at your #'s u need more then what I mentioned to make that much before exhaust- so I give up guessing what else you have.

Close. Power mods are as follows:
2001 Cobra 4V crate engine
BBK LTs
BBK O/R H-pipe
WMS Velocity tube (CAI)
K&N
Stock 96 GT EEC with a custom programmed Cobra overlay chip and tune
Stock 96 2V MAF calibrated to 24lb injectors
Stock pullies
Magnaflows

No porting at all (yet). A couple of people I know bought 4Vs from the same place (surplus from Ford - 0 miles on the motors). The lowest dyno was 303rwhp and all he had was a chip and K&N. Another guy P&P his upper/lower and pulled a hair shy of 340rwhp. Factory freak motors? Under rated? I guess???

Supposedly, from what I've heard, these motors were slated for the 2002 Cobras. Not sure how true that is. Maybe Ford was going to make up for the over rated low numbers of the 99s?

Either way, I'm gonna try for 12.6 the way she sits right now. I have to try a couple more launch techniques. It bogs bad w/ these gears.

My goal is mid 11s w/o opening the motor (ie 4:56s/slicks). Then I'll spray. When it breaks, I'm building a big bore block up (DOHC 5.0L) w/ 10.8:1 CR, full P&P on the heads/intake and the most aggressive cams I can get that won't stall at the light. That should put me about 400-415rwhp on the motor. 10.999 or bust!

Damn, long post!

Ya know, I saw that Cobra in your avatar but I didn't really think the fchances of a 4V swap were very good. Awesome numbers and dammit post some more pics.

Their site doesn't help much, but call them up. I think they also have Mach1 motors now.
Also check out www.modularmadness.com Don, the owner, will be able to find one.
