good job ram.. pretty soon it will be common place to turbo cls'sssss
speak more of the transmission.
were any internal mods to the motor done?
if so, what? and what compression is this motor if you did internals?
i noticed that you ran the piping similar to your setup. i'm wondering why you chose to run the exhaust manifold from the front rather than run it in from the rear and out the front?

Thinjim - Both manifolds are collected and they feed the turbo, so it doesn't matter where the turbo is... all six cylinders and pumping air into it, not that three.

PS: Mrsteve, I know it's getting close to opening day at Capital......you should bring a vid cam on your next few runs.

Not to hijack...
Capital was supposed to open today, but they were calling for some snow this weekend so they canceled. Next weekend i'll be in Vegas, the following weekend i'll be installing the IC (I've been waiting for warmer weather). So no track numbers or videos until the end of March.
I'm just hoping I get everything done in time to beat mattg for the 1st Auto CL-S to hit <13.00

I know that. Nevermind anyway.
What about the other questions I asked. Can you shed some light on them or is it a secret?

What say you?
Good job! i'm dying to get mine going.

Motor is stock, no internal work whatsoever... hence compression is stock as well. You could turn the turbo around, but good luck getting that to fit!

Read man just read.... he already said that its $8K+ installed... if you don't want the injector, cutout and other fancy stuff, maybe less.

What's up friends? Ram did an amazing job one this project. We have been in talks for many months and it has finaly come to fruition. I can't wait to get the car back and I will try and get it to the Phx track. It has been run before with the massive weight additions, stereo & rims. The direct port nitrous had to be disconnected until a new mounting spot for the solenoids can be found. But it will be reconnected once the car gets back to scottsdale and I'll get a turbo/nitrous dyno done. I will however be able to swing a screaming deal on the S/C, may it bring as much joy to others as it has to me. Again, after all the time and effort, I must thank Ramanan for taking this from his vision to reality. Now the door is wide open!

I've been looking over your design and have a question regarding your choice of placement and angle of the wastegate. It's hard to see from just the standpoint of looking at the pics, but here goes.
I think the wastegate bleed angle should be more symmetric with the flow of exhaust gases. It looks like it's the complete opposite of the way it should be sitting. Did you use/fabricate a wastegate adapter? Like I said, hard to tell. It looks like it is fabricated at about a ??angle with the flow rather than say about a 45 angle to capture the exhaust gases more effeciently. Just wondering.
Also, it looks like the fitment of an air cleaner is going to be tough. Pictures are deceiving though.
What an acheivement Ram. I'll bet that car sounds awesome under WOT. Change your name to RamAir.

The wastegate is a tad abrubt - but at 5-8psi it doesn't matter. It's the same on mine
as well. When you are trying to fit all this stuff given the space constraints... you compromise somewhat. If this was boosting 20-30psi, then this might be of concern for boost creep. However, it is not going the opposite way...
The picture is deceiving - the pipe is near to 90-degrees verticle as it enters the turbo, so the wastegate is tilted upwards... the pipe does take a bend pretty quickly though.
The air-cleaner fits fine... it comes in tomorrow. I have a 4" fitting for the vacuum hoses etc.

Did you experiment with trying to place/rotate the turbo so as to plumb the exhaust from the rear rather than the front of the car? I'm looking at running the exhaust from the rear of the block upwards and discharging it in the front similar to what you have done. Up in back, down in front, a loop. I'm putting the IC where the resonator use to be to give you a bigger picture.
What kind of wastegate it that? I'll bet it sounds like satin WOT

It's a Garrett/Tial WG. I was hesitant to run hot exhaust gas from the rear of the car - plus there is no room there and too many awkward bends.
There are always some compromises in each kit... this one for example of fog-lights up front, so the piping/bend of the IC piping is also not as gradual as mine.
If you were going for ultimate power, you can have gradual bend radii on everything and do all sorts of cool stuff.

I'll see when I get there, nothings ever easy and that's proven itself with this motor and the lack of off the shelf performance parts. It's coming along though. Post dyno on this beast when you can. take care

is the old blower bracket coming off the car, or is it being used?
