They use a transmission specific for sandrail applications with the use of an adapter to mount that transmission to the j32/35 block. Their trannys are similar to that of a early volkswagan transaxle setup, only stronger.

whoever the av6 guy is that comes on here already has 320whp before the 3.5 swap, so we'll see how it holds up after he gets tuned and all is said and done.

Yes and his Dr. Evil transmission was slipping with 320whp

That's true but I believe it was a one time thing and hasn't happened since but I could be wrong.

It turns out it wasn't slipping, it was just accelerating too fast for the ECU to compensate, and the ecu couldn't tell the transmission to shift fast enough before it hit the rev limiter. It was all the ECU, not the tranny.

It hasn't happened since because the transmission was sent back for a rebuild

it wasn't rebuilt. he took it in and they said it was fine physically, but that the ecu wasn't sending the "shift" signal fast enough.

WHOA! There is so much misinformation with Dr. Evil, so despite my short vacation I need to correct it.

Notwithstanding the fact that Dr. Evil was asked to deliver a reliable AV6 transmission to support up to 500HP or 390WHP (22% drivetrain loss), nobody at that level yet to judge the product , however my previous 321WHP AV6 record proved it holds the power just fine both roll and from the line. In fact, the shop mentioned they can upgrade to over 390whp if one desires . As far drive train loss, they believe it should be pretty much the same as stock but significantly better quality, more efficient/reliable along with help of LSD.

Now, my reported track issues with Dr. Evil actually turned out to be ECU and electric malfunctions, specifically hitting rev limiter, yet my 225/45/17 tires made an influence by rotating 832 rev per mile vs. 806 reported on stock 205/60/16 shoes. So, no my Dr. Evil was never rebuilt and it's a sure keeper. ECU is weak and non-reprogramable, but that's another subject.

Soon, will share my new DYNO results with 3.5L swap, EU tuning (fingers crossed),and once I feel the car track ready, going to get 245/45/17 DR which are close to stockers in terms of rotation specs. And while I don't expect to reach the above mentioned 390WHP to judge whether or not Dr. Evil mission has been accomplished , still have a full confidence in their product along with another advantage by being local.

Finally, if anyone with 5AT NA or FI J32 wants a truly reliable transmission, send or bring your auto tragic to their door. Level10, and number of others have tried and failed while Dr. Evil mission has been nothing but success for both AV6 and CL 3.0, hence my project continued.

Hope it helps.

I guess I learned somethign about teh dr evil tranny. thought there was a "upgraded tq converter" in there, but at least I was right about the ecu being the problem .

Correct, TC was rebuilt by some company in Arizona I forget, and correct again regarding ECU issues.
