Wired escort 8500 w/ direct smart cord! check it out

okay thnx to silver knight for the helm scan on how to take the wood trim off it only took 2 hours. and I took alot of pics.

first I took the side panel off, came off real easy

Then took the wood trim off, btw, its really cheap plastic.

Then got the direct cord wired and tapped teh wires toghether and feed it inbetween teh heatseat buttons to the side pannel bottom.

Then after feeding the cable

It looked like this.

during normal use i would put the cover

and when a cop comes by or if I just want to hide it I just take the obdII cover off and push teh remote back in and

This is a pic from teh outside. you normally can't see the detector but I took teh pic w/ a flash on just so you can see the detector and how its NOT behind the dark tint.

And before I did the direct wire here s where i placed the detector

*note

The above links are all good. if you get a red X that means the server just timed out. so just right click on the image and do a show picture. it should all load up.

Not one of the fastest servers, but better than nothing.

Damn, nice work... I cant believe you took all that trim off. I am so worried about removing anything plastic because I think it will never go back on the way it was. Now that you did all that you might as well rip out all the bowling ball trim and replace it with some nice brushed aluminum style trim!

are the helm scans for taking off the trim on this board somewhere?

Great work. Did the pillar pop off and back on just fine, or anything tricky or pia with them?

Yeah its straight, I had to put a towel inbetween the visor and roof so it levels straight.

That is the radar I was going to get. Is that what you have to do to run the wire?? I was thinking I could just run it to the fuse box or something like that. Did you do it that way because they are illegal where you are??

Yup illegal in va. I might sell it but keep the wireing since I had to buythe smart cord direct wire seperetly. I might get rid of it and buy one may be in another year since I can't get in any more trouble.

Have you considered wiring the detector stealth?

I once saw a NSX with a V1 installed in a fake third brake light. The remote display was in a dash vent. The control knob was on the floor between the driver’s seat and doorsill. If you have a spoiler, the third brake light is not used. Mount the detector in there. Cut out a forward facing window, put some glass over it, make it look stock. I guess there would be some degrade in performance because the forward view is partially blocked by the front seats.

Look around the car and see where else it could fit stealth.

Another option would be to break up the detector into modules. Mount the sensors in the rearview mirror … behind the front grill … place everything else in the dash or something. Rewiring the sensors away from the unit could affect performance. Plus the detector is trashed if it does not work. Don’t let the man hold you down.

That way I just pull the visor down cops are behind me
