Window regulator is done, need some help.

On my way back from moes, I tried to put up the window and...grind, grind, grind...buzz. All i get.

I took the door panel off, just to find that the regulator was HOT, the one of the cables were snapped.

I took the car down to the acura dealer, and walked to the back of the shop. I talked to this guy who said "its 169+ tax to fix, + the part". Shit.

I got him to come outside and take a look, and talked him into doing it himself, and he told me he'd do it for 90 bucks, which I think i may do.

If i can get the part tomorrow..is this an easy fix? I would love to fix it myself, but at school, minimal tools, and 0 time, its pretty tough.

Please let me know guys, I'm sure someone has done this on here. Thanks.

Is there a trick to properly adjust the regulator so the electrical system knows when the window is fully closed? The reason I ask is the following symptoms as posted in another thread:

"I'm getting wind noise from the driver's window only. I also notice that when I hold down the window switch to close it, it goes up a millimeter or so, the door panels gets "sucked in" slightly, and the noise is gone! On the passenger side when I hold the button to close the window it doesn't move at all and the panel stays still. I hear a click like the window relay knows its closed that I don't get on the driver's door.

I know the previous owner at the driver's window replaced. Any chance there is a way to adjust or tweak the regulators? Do other hear that same "cut off click" on their driver's door window that I hear from my passenger door when you press the button to close the window and it is already fully closed?"

Thanks everyone.

It's 7 bolts holding the regulator on the door panel and two holding the window in the regulator. You need a screwdriver to get the door panel off and that's it. You can do it yourself, I just replaced mine last Friday. I got the regulator from acuraoemparts.com for $85 shipped. PM me if you have any trouble.

Thanks womey, I have a good regulator, it's just in need of some fine tuning . I'll take off the door and play with it tomorrow and see if I can figure what's going on.

Ah cool deal, I noticed the same thing that when I close the window, then give it another push, it will move a tiny bit. If you figure out how to get it to close all the way on the first shot, please post it as I'm sure others experience the same thing.

There is a procedure to 'reset' the switch so it knows when its all the way up and down. I don't remember it though! If i find the thread i'll repost it here. Something like:
1. Roll window down, release button
2. Hold button down for three seconds, release
3. Roll window up, release button
4. Hold button up for three seconds, release.

I think that was how it went...I'll check though.

I didnt release the button on steps 1 and 3. Just roll it up, hold, roll it down, hold.
