my 3.5 was gained entirely by stroke. so the piston/rod moves farther. which means i have less deck height clearance than before. but i used the 05+ RL pistons which were designed to be used with their more aggressive cams. the notches in the piston head should allow me to clear the cam.

Fortunatley but in this case for you unfortuantely the J30A4 VTEC camshafts now utilize a three-rocker system, rather than the old two-rocker system so the cams for the CL, TL, and accord 98-02 that are interchangable would not work with your car.

Besides specific grinds, cams for the 3rd gen TL (04+) J32 would be the same, right?

89 people have expressed interest from the acura cl / tl side. but don't forget these will fit certain year accords. i haven't gotten their approval yet, their more on the see it to believe it side. but regardless, these cams are being made for at least me. so we will have a set made, fitted, tested, and dynoed. this is not a question. i suppose the question will be if it's worth it in the end. i think the guys with forced induction and people who appreciate the mod for what it is, will surely be buying this.

What it do, What it is?

Hey CleanCL any new news on the progress of this? I'm looking into getting CL-s Heads, pistons, IM and TB so this would be a great addition to that.

Just to let you all know, it depends on the restrictiveness of the cam already present. I come from a muscle car background and the cam upgrade completely depends on the car. For example, a 1999-2004 V6 Mustang will only see 10-15rwhp gain on a mid size cam upgrade (anything bigger would cause issues), but also since it is not an overhead cam, can cost over $1,000 with all parts included/installed. Then on the other hand, an LS1 car (V8 Camaro/Trans Am) get ridiculous gains from a mid size cam producing around 30-50rwhp and on a large cam (T-Rex w/ .612 lift) can see between 80-90rwhp gains JUST FROM A CAM. Therefore no matter how much install is, it doesn't make a difference because it's worth it. So we'd really have to see how the custom grind works on our cars.

Have you read the thread at all? This is about custom cams for the J32. We know what they do for other cars. We're just now waiting on the numbers.

I was just stating the stuff I know and saying it depends on the engine (meaning depending on the J32) as to how well it will produce. It was just a comment for those who know nothing about cams.

I've owned 2 Mustangs including a '99 V6 that I worked on and had a cam installed on. So why are you being an asshole again? Please remind me, thanks.

dude...these guys you're talking to aren't amatures when it comes to these engines
im sure you've noticed but if you aren't stating your facts right, the vets will check you on it. I've been checked plenty of times. No need to catch a case of being all pissy about it.

I didn't state anything incorrectly, all of it is correct information. If you can point out where exactly I'm incorrect, show me. I was simply saying it for those who don't know what cams are about, I don't know why I'm getting heat about this.

I believe it was from this sentence that got the attention. The vets already know the restrictiveness. That could also be suspect if you haven't read the entire thread. But now, I assume you've done so.

But at any rate, we're all excited and waiting for numbers is all.

Actually, I didn't read the whole thread and just posted, so my fault. But the fact that he's ripping on me because of my age and that I shouldn't be able to know about it is like saying I shouldn't know anything about my 2001 CL-S because I was only 14 when it came out. That's a ridiculous statement and an insult. The statement was not meant to be condescending, just for those who know nothing about it. Anyone can put a CAI and catback exhaust in their car, doesn't mean they know about engine internals, so I was just saying it for those who don't know. I was in no way meaning to be condescending to the "grand masters" of our cars.

You fail to reconize that I was a polite asshole to you. However, it's fun to see the reaction from people like you who make comments like , "i come from a muscle car background" then back That statement up by saying you've owned 2 mustangs including a V6 mustang. Thats a muscle car background alright.. If you have anything to really say, then give me a PM.

Looking forward to seeing the specs of the cams, are there any details that can be shared?
