Okay, CLS is the greatest bargain of mid-lux 2-door crusiers..
Where do we go from here... What is the next CLS killer...
Let us say $40k is the target price, 4-doors are also to be considered (acutally perfered)...
My options so far are:
Next 2004 S4.
Next 2004 TL-S
to be looked at:
New Volvos R editions... 300+HP AWD!
New Saabs if ever gets to M performance level
"Dream car":
2004 Audi RS6 :

In line with CL pricing.....loaded obviously more, the G35 coupe with the 6spd, 18's, Brembos is going to be a smoking hot car- as we all know since its been discussed here alot.
New S4 sounds interesting, the S60R as well. Like the new 9-3 also.
Based on whats coming out, I would pass on the M3 for now.

and a 330ci is much more quite ..less wind noises..
Dunno it'll be a while before i buy something new. Who knows what will be out on the market circa 2005
Hopefully something fuel efficient and reliable
I will probably end up buying a car just for the track. Of course i'll mod my daily driver but i don't think i'll spend the money on modding the daily driver later like i do with my CLS.

I fear the '04 S4 is going to be well over $40k ... Hell a loaded 3.0 Quattro is $38k.
The Volvos will be over $40k too.
In the $35-40k segment I think that the 350Z and G35 Coupe will more than hold their own until Honda shows up with either a uber-Accord coupe or a new CL-S.
Also Dodge comes out with the Charger in '04 ... RWD V8. Ford's Mustang on the new chassis should be out in '04 as an '05.

I usually have a daily commuter (the TL) and a weeekend toy (the Porsche), so finding a balance is not much of a concern for me. We plan on replacing the TL sometime next year, although I'm tempted to wait until the 2004 TL debuts.
I'm not a fan of Audi/Volkswagen...too many problems. We had a '01 Audi Allroad 2.7T Quattro for seven months, it was horrible. Three alternators, overheating, abnormal oil consumption, odd odors in the cabin (NOT oil), etc. Worst car we've ever owned...and I pity the sucker who bought it. Otherwise, an S4 would be a consideration.
One car that nobody has made mention of here is the next Nissan Maxima, which I am trying to keep close tabs on. If the Accord has enough "balls", I may consider that as well. Time will tell. Whatever it is, I want a manual transmission next...I've been hesitant to modify the TL heavily because it's an automatic...it's just not right.

That is an intriguing possibility BUT I fear I'll be wishing I was
driving a G35 coupe next year! :sqnteek:
I'll wait and see what Acura does with the CL-S. Even if they drop it, they'll have to replace it with something sporty with an edge. Maybe they will just keep the TL -S sedan and really move that up a notch.
