WTF is wrong with CLS Transmissions?
I saw there are already few people having problems, maybe even more.
I can't belive that brand name Acura has manufacture problem with Trannies.
If few new cars have tranny problems, I can imagine that once CLS hit 50K you will have lots of more people having tranny problems.

If this turns out to be a problem on all cars, Acura will lose its name forever.

It will be just like another stupid American Ford.

I just replaced my Ford Tranny at 110k miles....

I DONT want to do that again... I want it to last me the next 7 years... so if I get a TL would I have worries???

Maybe I should go with the Toyota Solara

i think these are just isolated incidents (hopefully). i've talked to a bunch of CL owners around here and all of them say their car is perfect, no problems, smooth and easy tranny shifts.

 

same tranny on all '00+ tl's and '01 cl's and cl-s's and tl-s's, it must be a bad batch or something, otherwise we'd have over 100,000 people (w/ tl's) complaining.

 

Some anectodal information that I personally know of:
My Mom's '88 Prelude had the tranny go bad two years ago at 115K miles - wouldn't shift into second gear...very annoying to drive, and very expensive to fix.
My Girlfriend's '84 Honda Accord had to have the tranny replaced at a little over 100K miles (her factory sunroof leaked too).
Sean, the Service Manager at South Coast Acura (where I bought my car) told me that the tranny in his Legend went kaput (don't know how many miles) - this was especially odd, since in the same discussion he was telling me how well made Acura cars are - he was like, "I've never had any problems with my Legend, except for needing the transmission replaced." And no, he wasn't being facetious.
Anyway, just as Honda has stuck with a poor sunroof design for many, many years, it seems to me that they use crappy transmissions too.
I will NOT be keeping this car after the warranty period expires, that is FOR SURE.
Out of curiosity - maybe Jens or Wayne can help, is there a way for a dealer to check the integrity of your tranny when you're in for a service? I can't imagine how pissed I would be if a bad tranny left me stranded somewhere......

 

Speaking of transmissions issues:

My transmission is starting to act up hesitating to shift into 4 I believe, not quite sure what is up, but something is different. My car has 15k

My friend replaced a tranny on his CLS last year, I was shocked when I heard that.

Bad ideas catch on quickly

 

My Tranny has an occasional "hesitation" at around 45mph. Its happenned a handful of times already. I only have 2000 miles on the car. WTF??? I will be REALLY pissed if I have to change this tranny.

Honda/Acura had some trouble with their transmissions in the mid-late 80s (Acura's first few model years) but I was under the impression that they had fixed the issue. I don't have any trouble in my car, but I don't have any performance mod's either. Somebody call up L10 and see what they think...

I think its just isolated cases. I have 17K miles and It is working better now then it did when i first got the car.

I doesnt require multiple throws to 3rd while in SS mode like it did before.
