What weight oil to use in my CL
I typically use 5-30 Mobil One in my CLs...My thought is a lighter weight like a 5-20 might free a few ponies but I do not want to do so at the expense of less protection....I live in South Florida and would appreciate any thoughts concerning the use of 5-20 weight in this area..
I have heard that Royal Purple is the best that money can buy. Would it be worth the extra $$ to upgrade from Mobil One??

5W-20 will give you slightly better MPG, and it is perfectly safe to use in the engine. The 02-03 TL cars actually specified 5W-20 for the MPG reasons, so you know it's safe since it's the same engine.
It's worth the extra $$ to use synthetic, but Royal Purple isn't going to be worth a $50 diy oil change.

Personally, i wouldnt waste any time or money on RP, and you arent going to gain anything noticeable hp wise so i wouldnt change it just looking for that.

The only reason to use RP is if you plan on NOT changing the oil for 10k miles, had a friend who wanted to see if it was worth it, and he basically said unless you are racking up more than 10k miles without an oil change only then would it be worth it since the price is rather high, but this guy drives for hospitals delivering organs and supplies so he says only worth it if putting stupid high miles on an oil change.
5w-20 is what I use in the winter and 5w-30 is what I use in summer/construction season here in IL.

If you're in S FL, you can easily use 10W-30. I just use whatever full synth is on sale at O'Reilly's and let it go 10k miles, and it comes out clean enough...

Thinking about switching to Denso oil filters since they are only 3 bucks and some change.
