Valentine or Escort
Alright, the time has come to purchase my REAL radar dectector. I have enough money to buy the Valentine, which I know is $100 more expensive than the Escort, so I was wondering which ones you guys recommend.
Any of your opinions would be much appreciated, so tell me what you have, or what you know about it, and what your experiences with them have been. Thanks
- I live in Connecticut, so there is a lot of radar activity as well as laser
- I do most of my driving in small towns with very low speed limits, most of them use radar
- On the Highways 5-0 uses Laser, so I need a good highway mode
- And I need something that is easy to move around...like from car to car

Yet Another Radar Thread...
This subject is like Lazarus. Anyway, I can testify to the V1 as I've owned one for 8 years (1 update in firmware). I paid the current price back then and it sure was expensive. However, it only hurt once.
Yes, the V1 is everything its manufacturer claims it is. I concur by saying that it's state of the art. Others may have as much sensitivity etc, but they don't have the locator capibilities of trhe V1. You see, the V1 is really 2 detectors in a single chassis, with a computer that compares the 2 and displays the more likely location.
Really, we need more folks to buy the lesser products so cops can write their quotas on them and get off the highways in general. If everyone owned a V1 we'd have 10 times the number of highway patrols to generate the same amount of revenue. That would reduce the fun by 10.
So, please by a Passport for my benefit.

I currently own the Bel980 and Im selling it to my sister cause I think Im going with V1. I called Bel to ask about the 985 diffference to the 980 which are practically the same but I also asked about Ecort 8500 and the V1. To make a long story short he told me that Bel is actually made by Escort so they both have similar technology and that V1 is an excellent system with only one drawback $$$$. This came from Bel customer service and almost every radar detector review out in reputable sources.....so my suggestion V1 and save money in the long run and get the new version less false alarms.

Saves me almost everyday. I can't imagine driving without a detector is like driving blind. Either use the detector or don't speed they both do the trick of saving u from tickets and worse of all those insurance cost points they slap on you
