UR Pulley's Causing problems?
UR Pulley's Causing problems?
Hey guys I have Unorthodox Pulleys (crank,p/s,alt.)
And I get this squealing noise when i turn my steering wheel. So i took it to Ed Voyles Acura and the Service Manager there told me that it was the pump that was making the noise. And he doesnt think its worth replacing cause its still working.
But should I purchase an aftermarket one or something to keep the squealing to go away or to be on the safe side?
I didnt think the pulleys would cause this problem cause I've heard people having them for years with not problems. I've had mine on for about 10-25K miles...

My steering also make that noise, and i don't even have the pulley. One more question, does your steering feel really light, cause myne is. Going to have it check out at the dealer somethime next week, and will report back

Anyone check your p/s fluid?? Sometimes when it gets low, the pump makes noise. I remember that lucas oils makes a product for power steering pumps. My 240sx made that squealing noise when the wheel was turned when I bought it. After I added some of the lucas, it quit permanently.

The service manager checked it and said it was fine... maybe I'll try replacing it with better p/s fluid..

Yeh, I am actually having the same issue. I ve had the UR pulley for about 6K. It only happens when at very slow speeds, like getting out of parking spots.
I was planning on ignoring it for now and replacing the power steering fluid come spring.
I m somewhat hesitant to start spraying WD40 on my belt. It oil based and could react with the rubber belts.

Oh and the oil wont hurt it.
70 hours. This is how long our ‘heat test’ for the Honda Timing Belt lasts. First, we heat a belt to 125 degrees for 70 hours. Then we boil it in oil for another 70 hours and finally, it is driven the equivalent of twice around the world. This means you can be confident that your Honda will not let you down when Genuine Parts are fitted
