UR Crank Pulley Installed!!-Question
I finally got mine installed (wed. morning) and as most of the members who have them say, this mod is amazing. Engine runs smoother and the power increase is definetely noticeable. I haven't checked the a/c cooling ability, but then again I don't really use the a/c even though I live in hot S. Florida. Everything else is fine.
UR Crank Pulley definetely gets a in my book and will be on my next vehicle.
But anyway to the question:
Is it possible that this mod can increase gas mileage?. I am usually pretty attentive to gas mileage and on this last tank of gas I have been in vtec a lot showing friends and family the power increase. Based on where im at now on the gas gauge, it seems like I am getting about the same gas mileage I get with my regular primarily mellow style of driving. I haven't filled up yet so I can't tell for sure. My friend's mustang magazine has ads for underdrive pulleys which claim an increase in gas mileage which is what sparked this question.
For the record I weighed the stock pulley on a bathroom scale: 8.58 pounds. The shop I got it installed (Cartek in Davie) told me that they have a stick turbo cl-s come by the shop occasionally, so I'm guessing thats ThinJim since he lives around this area.

the UR pulley is about drawing less power from your engine, driving A/C, P/S and alternator a little less than stock. so yes your engine has less work to do, but it won't give you 5mpg.
there's no way going WOT with UR pulley will give you the same MPG as normal driving with oem pulley.
still a very nice thing to install on all cars, something i'm looking to do in the future on the CL

Less rotational mass, less strain on the engine more gas. Its not a huge difference but I saw a slight improvement.
Alot of people also said adding the mugen cooling mods and spacers also increased the MPG.

Answers: one I'm young and stubborn. Windows down and 50 mph helps. I use to go to Puerto Rico every summer for about a month and didn't have A/C in most of my cousins houses (even though they have several top of the line computers each and huge ass tvs ) when I stayed, so I got use to it and it rarely bothers me.

24.5 mpg this was after I drove 40 extra miles very mellow to my friends house. I usually get 24.5-25.5 mpg suburban with primarily mellow driving. Highest I ever got suburban driving was 27.7 mpg.
220.8 miles on trip A (got gas right before pulley was installed), car filled up with 8.99 gallons. Chevron had premium for 2.49, cheapest I've seen it anywhere for quite a while, so I figured why not fill up.
My conclusion: definetely an increase in gas milage. I'd say atleast 1 mpg.
