Turbo CL-S vs. 350Z TT

Okay.. probably should put this in the racing section, but this was just too awesome to put there (for now at least).

I ran a 350Z TT this afternoon going from Westwood into the Santa Clarita Valley. From 60-100, I took about 3 cars and was still pulling. Anyways... that's really not the good part of the story.

After a few miles we hig traffic and had a chat for about 5 minutes. His isn't the Greddy kit... its some other kit boosting 8.5psi and said he is making 420whp!! Now... I take that with a grain of salt because I took him by a few cars and was still pulling (he did have a passenger... whatever difference that makes). Anyways... it was a beautiful Z and his name is Chester - I invited him to Acura-Cl.com... so we'll see if he shows up.

I think I need to go hit the dyno, albeit with only 5.5psi of boost!

I've had this *grin* on my face for the past 3 hours!!

Maybe he was bs'ing... or his car really did put down 420 - although I seriously don't think he
was putting down 420 today. Either way.. j > vq j(t) > vq(t)^2

Was he a single or twin turbo set up? The GReddy kit only puts out around 340 whp and runs around a 12.9 on street tires.

According to the official GReddy ads on the back of many magazines, the 350z with the TT kit puts out 334 whp and runs 12.9. I don't know if the 350z comes with a LSD from the factory either so that might hurt the launch.

Darrin,

The GReedy turbos are only rated for 400hp. They are not ball bearing turbos either. The kit only puts out 5.6 lbs of boost.
Max Power = 334.2 Wheel HP
Max Tourque = 339.2 Ft. Lbs.

Anyways, since he didn't even have the GReddy kit I wonder what he was really running? Maybe a large single turbo? I dunno. If this guy was really putting down 8.5 lbs he either sucked at driving or was full of

This wasn't the Greddy kit... got to find this guy on the net somewhere - his license plate is "UCLA EE" - ironic cuz I am UCLA EE as well

I can take a video... but what's the point of me holding the camcorder and filming from inside the car?!?

I realize this, although I would think his claimed 8.5 lbs of boost would walk all over your 5.5 lbs.

Either way, you smoked him! HAHA... that is so awesome. Love the new kit man.

Awesome kill allmotor! Good job!

I don't see how 420 is possible unless they big turbos. A stock Z makes how much stock? 250whp? Maybe less? So we're talking a 170whp gain???

Very impressive kill. The Zs come with a 3.5 liter and 289HP(I believe), so a twin turbo setup could net 420HP. Never the less this does say a lot about Turbos and V-Tech, it seems to be a very nice marriage. Great work Allmotor.

allmotor, if the race was from 60-100, you must have shifted into 4th correct? If so, and you were still pulling on the Z, that is sick.

Yup, I've seen this guy on the 350 board. He is running the Power Enterprise TT. Cool thing is that he was the test guy for the turbo.

Nice kill, your car has to be insanely fast!! Can't wait to see the track times!!
